If Monique Greene thought Nelly was let her sexual assault lawsuit against him go unanswered, she just found out differently.

On Friday (01-26-18) the rapper filed a suit against her. In the countersuit, Nelly claims Greene made her way into the VIP section of the club he was performing at and began flirting with him. He then invited her to join him on the tour bus with others. The rapper said they engaged in consensual sex, but Greene then got mad when a backup dancer entered the room to use the bathroom

Rapper Nelly has filed a countersuit after being accused of sexual assault, according to documents seen by USA Today.

The countersuit comes after the accuser, Monique Greene, claimed Nelly raped her in October 2017. Greene said the incident happened in the rapper’s tour bus in a Walmart parking lot in Seattle. Nelly was arrested on rape charges in October and Greene went on to sue Nelly last month seeking unspecified damages. However, the case against the rapper was dropped after she refused to cooperate with the investigation.

Nelly has maintained his innocence, saying in a tweet in October that he was “beyond shocked that I have been targeted with this false allegation.”

The rapper filed a counter lawsuit in Seattle on Friday. In the countersuit, seen by TMZ, Nelly claims Greene made her way into the VIP section of the club he was performing at and began flirting with him. He then invited her to join him on the tour bus with others. The rapper said they engaged in consensual sex, but Greene then got mad when a backup dancer entered the room to use the bathroom. Nelly claims Greene became “aggressive and disruptive” and was asked to leave. She then allegedly ordered an Uber and called police to report the incident.

Fans had an unexpected and shocking reaction after news broke that rapper Nelly had been arrested for allegedly raping a woman. Here, he performs at The 3rd Annual National Concert Day it Irving Plaza in New York on May 1, 2017. Photo: Getty Images

Nelly’s countersuit comes after Greene’s amended complaint claimed the rapper sexually assaulted two other women in England. The complaint said that on two occasions, one in June 2016 and another in December 2017, the rapper invited the women to private after-parties and assaulted them.

One woman, referred to as Jane Doe 1, claims Nelly grabbed her leg and put his hand on her skirt without consent, documents seen by USA Today say. The other accuser, Jane Doe 2, said the rapper touched her without consent and forced her to engage in oral sex.

Nelly’s attorney, Scott Rosenblum described the lawsuit as a “money grab” and added that the allegations about the U.K. women are “completely fabricated and an attempt to give credibility to his accuser’s far fetched story.”

“Nelly trusts the facts. He trusts the judicial system. And more importantly, he trusts that an objective finder of facts will conclude that his accuser’s story is ever evolving and devoid of credibility,” the attorney said in a statement to USA Today. “Nelly welcomes the opportunity to litigate this case in court. He is not looking for any monetary gain. He does not expect any monetary gain. He expects an apology and recognition that he did no wrong.”

Police arrested rapper Nelly early Saturday after a woman said he raped her on his tour bus in a town outside Seattle, an accusation the Grammy winner’s attorney staunchly denied.

Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., was arrested about 4:37 a.m. Saturday in his tour bus at a Walmart, Auburn police spokesman Commander Steve Stocker said.

The woman called 911 to report being sexually assaulted by Nelly on the tour bus, police said in a statement.

He will have his first appearance before a judge “at some point,” Stocker said. Nelly was scheduled to perform in Ridgefield, Washington, on Saturday night.

Nelly’s attorney, Scott Rosenblum, said Saturday afternoon that the singer was released from jail pending the investigation, and he is expected to be at the Ridgefield show.

Nelly performed at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington, on Friday night. He’s on tour with Florida Georgia Line.

At 12:23 a.m. Saturday, after that show, he sent out a Tweet that said in part: “its (sic) really you against the whole world because the whole world don’t know you exist.”

Rosenblum called the rape claim a “completely fabricated allegation.”

“Our initial investigation clearly establishes this allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness. I am confident, once this scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to address and pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation,” Rosenblum said in an email.

Nelly was arrested in Tennessee in 2015 on felony drug possession charges after a trooper smelled marijuana on his bus. Nelly later pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor drug charges: possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, the district attorney said. Nelly agreed to a pretrial diversion, which means his record was later cleared, Rosenblum said.

Nelly is a three-time Grammy winner, including for the song “Hot in Herre,” which won the best male rap solo performance award in 2002.

The song has been sampled and re-recorded by other artists and is ranked No. 21 on a Rolling Stone magazine list of top summer songs. Nelly is also known for the hits “My Place” and “Over and Over.” He appeared in the 2005 film “The Longest Yard.”

The following year he shared a Grammy for the song “Shake Ya Tailfeather” with Murphy Lee and Sean Combs.

Nelly is also a minority owner of the Charlotte Hornets.
