]]>“OWTS” is about going on with life’s challenges despite its pushbacks that come at seemingly the wrong times. The song starts off by jokingly calling for Emmy-nominated actress Tracee Ellis Ross but then serves commanding bars about moving on.
The rapper states that the song is used to pay homage to the legendary Kardinal Offishall, who produced the track.
“This song serves as a homage to heralded city legend, producer, and artist Kardinal Offishall,” Tona said of the rapper and producer per a press release. “[Kardinal] originally released “On Wit Da Show” in 1997. The production just gave me close to the same feel as the original and instantly had me wanting to echo the same sentiments, throughout all the ups and downs through the career trials, On with the show!”
“OWTS” follows “Fame,” the third single, which was released in September. Tona is set to release his new album HOTC (Henny On The Congregation) at the end of the year.

]]>The post Kuda Drops Debut EP “52 BLUE” appeared first on WE SPEAK MEDIA.
]]>Budding music artist Kuda kicked off the summer with his seventh single, “GET MINE.” The rising star closes out the summer with his debut EP, 52 BLUE. Kuda’s sound is reminiscent of platinum recording artists Lil Skies, NAV, and Yeat. The five-track EP balances its poetic, somber tones with hard-hitting, catchy beats and lyrics.
The EP starts off with the song, “Lift Off.” Kuda takes off in “Lift Off.” His smooth flow blends well with the bouncy, wavy instrumental. Track two, “Get Hiya,” is a sleek, laidback track about getting geeked. It is the first song on the EP that features renowned music artist Stephen Jailon. Both artists spit relatable, cool bars. The next song, “It Ain’t No Gift,” is a personal favorite as it is motivational. The song stresses being oneself, grinding, and chasing dreams. Kuda delivers a pointed message to haters. Track four, “Roll Tha Dice,” is the penultimate song of the EP and the second song to feature Stephen Jailon. The record has a uniquely arranged beat that is cleverly controlled chaos. The two artists shine with their vibey flows and witty metaphors. “Nothin2Lose” is the closer and fittingly so. The track makes listeners feel inspired and head bob with glee.
Kuda does a great job in delivering the vibes and messages that he wanted to in 52 BLUE. “52 Blue is the nickname of a whale that famously communicated at a frequency that no other whale could understand.” Kuda continues: “As someone who has mental illnesses and has floated throughout every type of social group throughout my life, I feel truly alone at times. I cope by making a lot of money and partying my a** off. The songs on this EP represent the duality of my life, my lonely and pained inner world versus my exterior.”
52 BLUE is an immaculate body of work. From the mixing and mastering to the beats to the lyrical content, 52 BLUE is chock full of high-quality bangers. Press play on 52 BLUE today!

]]>The post Hollow Profit Talks New Song, Working with Ronnie Alpha, and Much More appeared first on WE SPEAK MEDIA.
]]>24-year-old rapper, Brody Burke, goes by stage name Hollow Profit. Specializing in 90s era, Boom Bap, Hollow Profit adds new flavors to old styles. Rapping since 2014, he is sure to appeal to the tastes of the traditional Hip-Hop heads – carrying on the long-held tradition of lyricism.
With his single, “Sicilian Gold,” out now, we took some time to hear more from Hollow Profit. Read below to learn more about Hollow Profit, the story behind his single, and what’s to come.
Hi Hollow Profit! Let’s start with how did you get your artist name?
It was when I first listened to ‘How Much a Dollar Cost?’ by Kendrick Lamar. I was moved by that song’s message to not hold money in such a high regard – charity over greed. To me, any material profit is hollow in comparison to the richness of life; God, people, music, and experiences hold so much more value than money ever could. I’m not in it for the money – I’m in it for the music.
What city are you from and where are you based now?
I grew up in rural Poplar, Wisconsin. In 2019, I moved to Duluth, Minnesota and have been living here ever since.
At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?
Growing up, my family never listened to Hip-Hop (more Country and Classic Rock). I was 14 when I first heard Eminem through the radio one day when my family was going for a drive. My sister was really into Hip-Hop at the time, and my father, knowing this, turned up the radio. I really enjoyed the song (‘Berzerk’) and would listen to it on YouTube. Through YouTube, I would come to find more Eminem songs and other Hip-Hop like NWA, Dr. Dre, and Kendrick Lamar.
Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?
Absolutely, I grew up listening to a lot of Outlaw Country, and I can see where it has influenced my songwriting. Obviously, being such sonically different genres – I don’t take influence from the southern twang of it all. I’m not out here sampling any Merle Haggard or Willie Nelson on my records, but the way I structure some of my songs, the sometimes blunt word usage and simple comedy is something that I find myself leaning on more often than not.
How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
Smooth. I try to make my songs as seamless as possible. A bad transition can kill a song’s momentum, a clunky flow can detach the listener from the moment, and an uneven performance can turn a potential fan away very quickly. Cohesion is a must when making music. One must ask: does everything flow together well? I think too many artists get caught up in trying to polish one minute area while neglecting the overall picture. I try to make the overall body and flow of the song appealing, and then go back to fine tune the small details.
Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?
I really enjoy running and learning (especially history). As far as staying creative, that has never been a challenge. It is more of a deep, unyielding impulse to create. I always have ideas, lyrics, melodies, and more floating around my head. The hard part is not finding the inspiration, the hard part is finding the time to live out that inspiration through the artistic process.
Who are some of your main musical influences?
MF DOOM for sure. I love the way he uses words and subverts expectations when rapping. With each listen, you can find more and more unpacked nuance. I also really enjoy The Beatles – they were so innovative for their time, and the music still holds up all these decades later.
What are some of your future music career goals?
Short term: I would like to put out a few classics, work with the best lyricists at my disposal and inspire the next generation to do the same.
Long term: I would like to start a record label here in Duluth. There may come a day when I no longer have the desire nor the energy to keep making music. When that day comes, I’d like to be able to help the next generation of MC’s along, expanding Hip-Hop’s ever growing legacy. I think this culture is important to carry on.
Now onto your release, ‘Sicilian Gold.’ What inspired this song?
It was really more of a practice drill. I was writing to a beat just to keep my pen sharp – I didn’t go in with any planning or forethought. By the end of it though, I thought ‘this goes kind of hard.’ So, I recorded it and sent it to Ronnie, seeing if he’d like to hop on the back half. The rest is history.
What is ‘Sicilian Gold’ about in your own words?
On the surface, it is about an all black outfit, highlighted by gold chains. If we look a little deeper than that, it’s really about fashion and feeling confident in the way that we express ourselves.
How did the collaboration with Ronnie Alpha come about?
I’m always on the lookout for underground talent. I came across Ronnie’s music a few months prior, and once I had completed the demo for ‘Sicilian Gold,’ I messaged him via Instagram. He said that he would hop on and that was the start of us collaborating. As of writing this, we have had three songs together with one more locked in the vault (It’s insane). He’s a really talented artist and highly underrated – definitely worth a listen.
What message do you hope fans take away from your music and from ‘Sicilian Gold?’
I hope it can be an escape for people. There’s no deep underlying and grandiose message to the song, but sometimes simple songs like ‘Sicilian Gold’ can offer a moment of reprieve – especially when someone’s having a hard day. Nothing too deep – I hope people find enjoyment in one form or another.
What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?
I think my collaboration with Fat Ray – speaking with him on the phone is going to be a memory that stays with me for life. He’s had such a robust career thus far, working with Dilla back in the day to being a cornerstone of the bruiser brigade; he’s well worth his salt. He was the first established rapper to speak to me as a peer, and for me, that went a long way; him willing to collaborate. The song’s pretty fire too (‘Hot Pursuit’).
What would you say are the greatest lessons that you’ve learned so far?
Be humble and work hard. It’s simple: you are not going to know everything, and you are going to make mistakes. Humility will help you learn and hard work will help you when you screw up: and you’re going to screw up.
What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects, or do you have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?
I have an upcoming album, ‘CUIBONO?’, dropping this October. It is the culmination of years of work. I consider it to be my first official album (even though I’ve dropped a few tapes prior). ‘Sicilian Gold’ will be track 3 on the album.

]]>His music focuses on themes of self-motivation, life experiences, and how he connects to the world around him. We caught up with him following the release of his track “Menace” to learn more about his artistry, influences and aspirations.
– As an Austrian-Nigerian artist, how do you navigate the intersection of your cultural identities within your music? Are there specific influences from both cultures that you incorporate into your sound or lyrical content?
I always try to include elements of culture and heritage in my lyrics, I make references to who I am, where I’m from or how good I look. Sometimes it’s a bit of a challenge having dual identities, but influences like Santan Dave and Tobe Nwigwe help me focus more on perfecting my Hip-Hop art itself, and less on who I am as a person.
They are both of Nigerian descent but they are widely known for their creative abilities.
– “Menace” marks a bold departure from your previous work, showcasing a more confident and assertive side of your artistry. What inspired this shift in tone and how does it reflect your personal growth as an artist?
I would say my personal growth inspired this shift in tone. “Menace” depicts patience and pride. I was patient enough to grow first and then release it after I had fully experienced the lyrics I was rapping about, and I was proud enough to not care about the “ifs and buts” , I just made it happen.
The major inspiration for the shift in tone was my new environment. Moving to Linz, Austria made me a little bit cocky, because I had the privilege of starting my personal growth all over again with no one really knowing or experiencing the older version of me.
– “Menace” was originally recorded in 2021. Looking back, how do you feel about revisiting this track and sharing it with the world now? Has your perspective on the song evolved since its creation?
“Menace” was always planned to be a global release. It was recorded back in 2021 in a little home studio in Nigeria. I was in the midst of friends going crazy when the song was finished and I knew in that moment, that I would have to evolve as an individual and as an artist, to really fit the narrative of “Menace”. My perspective on the song never changed, but my perspective on myself constantly evolved.
– In addition to your music career, you’re also known for your passion for fashion. How do you see your fashion aesthetic intersecting with your music, and do you draw inspiration from similar sources for both creative outlets?
Yes I draw lots of inspiration from artists that curate both. In terms of fashion and creativity, I really look up to creative artistes like Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky, Lil Yachty and Aminé.
I also have a personal stylist called Mr. Gbada. We work together to always create new ways to express the idea of “LOH-renzo“ to people. Visual aesthetics are vital to long lasting emotions.
– Can you give us a glimpse into your creative process when crafting a song like “Menace”? From the initial concept to the final recording, what steps do you take to bring your vision to life?
My creative process involves including music in my everyday life. I think I was cleaning in my parents’ home with the “Menace“ beat playing loudly on the speakers.
The beat triggered emotions, the emotions triggered vocal melodies, vocal melodies turned to words, and when everything came together nicely, I basically sewed the pieces together and sent the raw draft to the beat producer (Retrro) for his opinion. Then I went to his home studio to record the final version. He loved it. All my Musically inclined friends loved it too and that is how I create music till date, I always involve people in the creative process.
– Looking ahead, what are your aspirations for the future of your music career, and what can fans expect from you beyond this new release?
I aspire to grow a strong bond with a community in Europe and Nigeria simultaneously and market my brand to the rest of the world. With a few performances already done in Linz, I also aspire to tour and perform in other major cities in Austria and neighboring countries in Europe as well. After the release of “Menace” , fans can expect an EP titled “Surgo”.
“Menace” is a sneak peek into what the EP holds, as “Surgo“ expresses themes of Pride and Egoism, but also motivation, creativity and family. This unique Hiphop creation can be enjoyed in the form of rage anthems, motivational tracks and overall hype energy. I am really looking forward to releasing it.

Q. Are there any particular lyrics in this song and what’s the meaning behind them?

]]>With the single, “All Else Fails,” out now, we took some time to hear more from Que Believe. Read below to learn more about Que Believe, the story behind the single, and what’s to come.
Hi Que Believe! Let’s start with how did you get your artist name?
I was labeled QB by my friends in Florida because I’m originally from Queens Bridge, and when I started doing music, I took the letters from my nickname and tied it in with my story of being an underdog in the industry – hence Que believe.
What city are you from and where are you based now?
I’m originally from Queens, but I’m based out of Staten Island, NYC where I do all of my music in our own studio.
At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?
It started off with poetry in elementary school, and it transpired into music when I got to my senior year of high school.
Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?
My upbringing has definitely impacted and influenced my music, and who I am because the hardships that I’ve faced provided me with the drive and material needed to stay creative.
How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
I don’t necessarily have a specific sound as I grew up listening to pretty much everything, so if I had to describe it, it would be described as infectiously catchy music with a message that transcends genre. People around me say it’s ‘medicine for the soul’ type of music, so I implemented that in my Que Believe brand logo.
Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?
I don’t have much hobbies outside of the music scene because I breathe, live, and dream musically.
Who are some of your main musical influences?
My main influences as of now are Bruno Mars, Anderson Paak, and The Weeknd, but my Hip-Hop influences that started it all for me were Slim Shady, Nas, Method Man, and Redman.
What are some of your future music career goals?
My goals are to have a number 1 charting album on Billboard, win a few Grammys, and working with some of my biggest influences.
Now onto your release, ‘All Else Fails.’ What inspired this song?
‘All Else Fails’ came to me in a dark time where I was forced to choose between struggling doing it by the books, and taking risks in order to secure the bag and not be a statistic.
What is ‘All Else Fails’ about in your own words?
The average man becoming a risk taker with all that life brings his way.
How did the collaboration with Jadakiss come about?
A good friend of mine at the time (Efren Santana) had connections with Jadakiss’ camp and pitched it to them. Jadakiss heard the potential in the record and jumped on it out of love, and I’ve been greatly appreciative of that. So, salute to Jadakiss, man. Much love and respect. Not too many artists are like him – humble to work with underdog artists trying to get in the game like myself. It’s been a long Journey for me.
What message do you hope fans take away from your music and from ‘All Else Fails?’
When all else fails, don’t lose hope and strive for greatness.
What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?
Completing my first project (In Que Believe EP), which is officially being released this summer. Stay tuned for the date, which will be posted on my website and pre-released on there.
What would you say are the greatest lessons that you’ve learned so far?
Stay humble, believe In yourself/your potential, and always remain a student to everything that you do in life.
What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects, or do you have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?
Right now, I will be doing a lot of media coverage across the U.S. for my first project, In Que Believe EP, which has six of my favorite songs from my catalog that I built over my years of music. Eventually, I will be doing shows, which also will be posted on my website, quebelievemusic.com, and I’m also working on putting together my first full album now. This EP is just a sample of what I’m bringing for you all, so I hope that you enjoy it.
