A.J. Terrell Returns to Practice as Falcons Open His 21-Day Window

A.J. Terrell of the Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons are getting their top cornerback back on the practice field. A.J. Terrell Jr. returned to practice on Wednesday, opening his 21-day window to be activated from injured reserve.

Terrell has missed the last four games with a groin injury he suffered early in Atlanta’s Week 2 loss to the Carolina Panthers. The Falcons now have 21 days to move him onto the 53-man roster — if they don’t, he would revert to injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

His return can’t come soon enough for a banged-up Falcons secondary. C.J. Henderson stepped in across from Mike Hughes during Terrell’s absence, but Henderson went down with a groin injury of his own in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens. In Week 6, Atlanta started Terrell’s younger brother, rookie Avieon Terrell, on the outside with Billy Bowman Jr. in the slot — and Bowman left the game against the Chicago Bears early with an injury, leaving his status for Week 7 unclear.

If Terrell is ready to go this week, it would be a timely boost, with the Falcons set to face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

A former first-round draft pick, Terrell has started 95 games in his career for the Falcons. Last season, he recorded 12 pass defenses and a pair of forced fumbles — each the second-highest total of his career.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts is expected to miss the remainder of the 2026 season after doctors discovered multiple blood clots in both of his lungs, according to reports.

The diagnosis requires a multi-month recovery on blood-thinning medication, a timeline that would sideline Hurts for the rest of the campaign and force Philadelphia to completely reshape its offensive identity.

The NFL Players Association has demanded a full investigation into the Eagles’ medical care, questioning the decision to play Hurts on Oct. 11 after he spent a significant portion of the preceding night in a hospital, according to the reports.

Hurts’ absence leaves the Eagles without their franchise quarterback for the stretch run of the season. The team will now turn to its backup quarterbacks as it tries to save its season in the NFC.
