Armwood’s Future Is Now: Martin and Fitzgerald Lead a Young Core

Published

The most interesting roster in Tampa this winter might also be one of its youngest. At Armwood, the future arrived early — and it can play.

The Hawks’ young core starts in the backcourt with Jaiden Martin, a 5-10 combo guard in the class of 2028 who transferred in from Winthrop Collegiate Prep Academy, where he averaged 13.1 points per game on 43 percent shooting as a sophomore. Southeast Hoops Report calls him one of the top stock risers in the state for his class.

Beside him is size with skill: Treyvon Fitzgerald, a 6-8 power forward also in the class of 2028, broke out over the summer with A1 Elite on the PUMA circuit, where his court vision and playmaking at his size turned heads.

They join a group that already produced in one of Florida’s deep districts — last season Armwood got 17.0 points per game from Sebastien Lefranc, 12.4 from Zachariah Grace and 11.2 from Elijah Bernadin in a Class 6A District 8 race that also featured Bloomingdale, Leto, Gaither and Tampa Bay Tech. Young teams usually learn on the job. Armwood’s class of 2028 looks ready to skip a step.

Remember These Names: E’zariyah Clark and Amira White Headline Florida’s 2030 Class in Tampa

They haven’t played a minute of high school basketball yet. In Tampa, people are already learning their names.

E’zariyah Clark arrives at Tampa Bay Tech as a 5-11 forward and combo guard in the class of 2030, playing club ball for HER Elite. Prep Girls Hoops’ evaluation reads like a varsity scouting report: a midrange game, range out to the deep ball, and rim protection built on length and timing — a freshman who “should be a key contributor for TBT alongside a talented group of guards.”

Across town, Amira White gives Plant a 6-0 power forward from the same 2030 class, playing for MBJ Elite. Prep Girls Hoops calls her “a major addition for Plant as the program looks to reestablish itself among the top teams in Tampa and across the state,” pointing to a back-to-the-basket game with an outside shot to match.

Florida’s 2030 class, as Prep Girls Hoops frames it, is a group whose size and length make them names to watch from day one. Two of the biggest are starting their careers in Tampa gyms this winter. Remember where you heard them first.
