Demetrius Andrade Needs Just 129 Seconds in Ring Return, Knocking Out Douglas Ataide at Championship Jackpot 2026
After 20 months away from the ring, Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (33-1, 20 KOs) needed just 129 seconds to remind the boxing world what it had been missing.
The three-time, two-division world champion made an emphatic return on Friday night at Mohegan Sun Arena, knocking out Brazil’s Douglas Ataide (20-6-1, 11 KOs) at 2:09 of the opening round in the main event of CES Boxing’s Championship Jackpot 2026, streamed live worldwide on DAZN.
There was no feeling-out process and little evidence of ring rust from the 38-year-old Providence, RI, southpaw, who immediately backed Ataide up with sharp jabs to the midsection. Then, just as Ataide anticipated a punch to the body, Andrade landed a left hand to the head followed by a tremendous right hook to the temple that short-circuited the Brazilian and sent him crashing to the canvas. There was no need for a count from referee Ricky Gonzalez, as Ataide lay flat on his back with his arms flailing in the air.
The thudding knockout made Andrade’s return to New England for the first time in five years an emphatic one. With the win out of the way, the 2008 U.S. Olympian is set on pursuing a fourth world title in a third weight class against the likes of Jaime Munguia, Christian Mbili, and Hamzah Sheeraz.
“I’m looking to fight whoever claims that they’re the best at 168,” said Andrade immediately after the bout. “I’m not playing around. We’ll be back in the gym next week and we can get it on in November.”
“To be away for two and a half years and put on that kind of performance is unbelievable,” said CES Boxing Founder Jimmy Burchfield, Sr. “Demetrius is ready to become a four-time world champion in three divisions, so the 168-pound champions better be ready.”
‘King’ Kevin Walsh Survives Scare to Destroy Dannis Arias
‘King’ Kevin Walsh (21-0, 11 KOs) has been one of the most active boxers in the world, racking up 21 wins in his five-year pro career. In March, Walsh traveled to Belfast, Northern Ireland, and upset former Olympian and world title challenger Michael Conlan to win the WBC International Featherweight Championship and announce his arrival on the world stage.
Entering the night ranked 14 in the world with the WBC and closing in on a world title opportunity, Walsh took a dangerous stay-busy fight against hard-hitting Dominican Dannis Aguero Arias (20-6, 17 KOs). The gamble almost backfired in round one, as Arias caught Walsh with a huge right hand a minute into the fight. Then Walsh turned the tables, launching a monstrous counter right hand that put Arias on unsteady legs. A right uppercut and a series of right hands followed, dropping Arias by the neutral corner. The Dominican bravely beat the count but was greeted by another devastating right hand that put him back on the canvas, and referee Arthur Mercante, Jr. halted the fight at 2:14 of the opening stanza.
“You know who I want — you’re right down the street in New York. ‘Shu Shu’, where you at? I’ve been calling you out. I’m taking everybody out around my way. Let’s go baby. It’s my time,” Walsh said, calling out WBC Featherweight World Champion Bruce ‘Shu Shu’ Carrington.
Bohdziewicz Bounces Back in Style
Stamford-based Polish prospect Slawomir “Heavy Hitter” Bohdziewicz (8-1, 7 KOs) made a resounding return to the win column, stopping Russ Kimber (3-5, 1 KO) in the second round of their cruiserweight contest. Bohdziewicz trapped the Peabody native along the ropes in round one, then blasted him to the head and body in round two, dropping him twice and causing referee Ricky Gonzalez to wave off the fight at 2:12 of the round.
Marroquin Edges Smikle in All-Connecticut Showdown
Stamford, CT middleweight prospect Douglas “El Uno” Marroquin passed the toughest test of his young career, improving to 11-0 (6 KOs) with a hard-earned unanimous decision over fellow unbeaten Daine “Wavy” Smikle (4-1, 1 KO) of New Haven, CT. All three judges scored the bout 58-56 for Marroquin.
In other action, veteran Luis Porozo (20-15, 10 KOs) handed previously unbeaten Gianni “The Ghost” Liguori (5-1-1, 4 KOs) the first loss of his professional career by unanimous six-round decision, 58-56 on all three cards. Carlos “Carlitos Way” Perez (7-0, 1 KO) swept all six rounds against Anthony “Toro Rojo” Mora (7-9-1, 4 KOs). Anthony “The Enforcer” Nieves improved to 3-0 (2 KOs) with a second-round stoppage of debuting Jancel Castro-Guante (0-1) at 2:50 of round two. Joseph “J-Elite” Chisholm (8-1, 7 KOs) stopped Rashad Hicks (2-9-1, 1 KO) at 47 seconds of round two. And Kevante “The Key” Wineglass (5-0, 3 KOs) outworked Josh “The Boss” Melvin (3-1-1, 2 KOs) by majority decision, with scores of 40-36 (twice) and 38-38.
Championship Jackpot 2026 continued CES Boxing’s longstanding tradition of bringing championship-level boxing to Mohegan Sun Arena. At the top of the card, Andrade returned with a reminder: “Boo Boo” is back — and after 20 months away, it took him barely two minutes to announce it.

GLORY COLLISION 10: Mory Kromah Defends Heavyweight Title Against Antonio Plazibat on December 12
ARNHEM, Netherlands — The stage is officially set for one of the biggest heavyweight kickboxing fights of the year, as GLORY COLLISION 10 will feature reigning GLORY Heavyweight World Champion Mory Kromah defending his title against Croatian knockout artist Antonio Plazibat.
The championship showdown takes place Saturday, December 12, inside the iconic GelreDome, one of Europe’s premier stadium venues, promising a spectacular night of elite kickboxing action. The same card also features an eight-man Welterweight Grand Prix, where champion Chico Kwasi’s belt will be defended through the tournament, and a clash between Tarik Khbabez and Mohamed Touchassie.
Kromah (38-3-1, 25 KOs) enters his second heavyweight title defense after an unforgettable performance at GLORY COLLISION 9. The champion retained his crown in spectacular fashion by knocking out Milos Cvjeticanin with a devastating flying knee that quickly became one of the year’s most viral combat sports highlights — according to GLORY, the knockout generated more than 10 million views across the promotion’s social media platforms, helping establish Kromah as one of kickboxing’s fastest-rising global stars.
The rivalry needs no selling. At a promotional staredown in Rotterdam in September, the two men had to be separated in a scuffle that left a security guard on the canvas, and they were put in the same room again at the GLORY 110 fan zone in Antwerp this past weekend.
“Plazibat thinks he is coming to take my belt. He can think again,” Kromah said. “He already had his time in GLORY. This is a new era, the Mory Kromah era. When my knee connects to his chin, he will go to sleep and only dream of becoming GLORY champion.”
Plazibat (24-5, 17 KOs) secured his opportunity by delivering an emphatic knockout victory over Anis Bouzid at GLORY COLLISION 9, immediately solidifying himself as the division’s No. 1 contender. The Croatian powerhouse made his intentions perfectly clear.
“The plan is simple. I will smash his face and beat him down until he quits,” Plazibat said. “No more playing heavyweight for Mory Kromah. He does not know the world he is entering when he is in the ring with me.”
The heavyweight title Kromah holds was made famous by Rico Verhoeven, who ruled the division for a decade before leaving GLORY for the boxing ring — where he challenged Oleksandr Usyk for a world title in Egypt in May. Verhoeven is back in the headlines this week: the Dutchman says he has accepted an offer to box former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder on December 11, the night before COLLISION 10, though Wilder’s agreement and the final terms are not yet confirmed.
Tickets for GLORY COLLISION 10 are on sale now through GLORYKickboxing.com.
