Milton quarterback Derrick Baker accounted for four touchdowns and kicker Ryan Jung hit the game-winner with 58 seconds left as Milton beat Gainesville 49-46 on Friday night in the Georgia game of the week.

Baker threw touchdown passes of 24 and 6 yards to Jordan Carrasquillo and ran for scores of 7 and 4 yards, adding a 60-yard run that set up his first touchdown pass. The Tennessee commit’s second scoring run opened Milton’s second half — two plays after Sheldon Atchison’s 80-yard run — as the Eagles erased a 30-17 halftime deficit with 32 second-half points.

Jung, who had already hit a 50-yard field goal at the halftime buzzer, drilled a 47-yarder with 58 seconds remaining to put Milton ahead 49-46. A Gainesville fumble, recovered by Milton with 11.6 seconds left, sealed it.

Gainesville lost starting quarterback Kharim Hughley to an ankle injury in the second quarter; sophomore Cooper Papka threw three touchdown passes in relief. Milton improves to 7-1; Gainesville falls to 6-3.

D'Andre Hennix Mays Raiders win graphic

Benjamin E. Mays has a new star, and Friday night he owned the biggest stage in Atlanta high school football.

Sophomore wide receiver D’Andre Hennix caught three touchdown passes — including the game-winner in the second overtime — as Mays outlasted Southwest DeKalb 34-31 at William Buck Godfrey Stadium to stay perfect on the season.

The Raiders trailed 21-7 before storming back, and every time Mays needed a play, it went to No. 15. Hennix’s final catch ended it in double overtime, and he was named the game’s Robbie Hunter Most Valuable Player.

Hennix receives the Robbie Hunter MVP award after the win — the broadcast graphic credits him with 3 touchdown receptions, including the game-winner in overtime.

Mays improves to 8-0 — building on the program’s first 7-0 start since 2015 — while Southwest DeKalb, led by senior quarterback Braylon Carter, falls to 4-5 after pushing the unbeaten Raiders to the brink.

Hennix is only a sophomore (class of 2029), and the college attention has already arrived: the three-star receiver holds offers from Florida State and Georgia Tech. Friday night showed everybody why.

We Speak Sports names D’Andre Hennix our Player of the Game.
