Florida State opened its 2026 fall ball schedule with a pair of wins over Jacksonville on October 16 at Dick Howser Stadium, taking the two six-inning exhibitions 5-1 and 4-1.

Three Seminoles left the yard. Sophomore outfielder John Stuetzer led the way in the opener, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, including a two-run home run over the center field wall. Senior catcher Kaden Frommelt and senior Jackson McKenzie also homered as part of two-hit days, and Cal Fisher added an RBI triple.

The pitching staff matched the offense. McKenzie tossed a no-hit inning of relief, and Kevin Mebil, John Abraham, Sebastian Lippman and Otto Espinoza each threw 2.0 shutout innings, with Espinoza striking out four.

Several Seminoles made their Garnet and Gold debuts in the sweep, giving head coach Link Jarrett a first look at his reworked roster against outside competition. Florida State’s fall slate continues October 24 against South Florida in Clearwater before the Garnet & Gold All-Star Game on October 30.
