Crossing Borders Through Sound: Cheerful Music’s ADE 2025 Showcase
This October, Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) will host an event that is as much about cultural exchange as it is about electronic music. On Thursday, 23 October, Cheerful Music—one of China’s most dynamic and internationally recognized record labels—will present Building The Bridge at Escape’s Royal Room, a showcase that promises to illuminate the emerging dialogue between Chinese and global electronic music.
For over a decade, Cheerful Music has cultivated a unique sonic identity, blending Mandarin-infused vocals with EDM and dance-pop textures. Hits like YI XIAO JIANG HU (Subject Three) and XIAO CHENG XIA TIAN have captivated audiences at home and abroad, positioning the label at the forefront of a movement that seeks to redefine China’s presence in the global music landscape. Building The Bridge is an extension of that mission—a curated evening where performance, collaboration, and innovation converge.
The showcase is designed as a conduit for cross-cultural dialogue. Attendees will experience DJ sets, live performances, and cross-border collaborations that emphasize both creativity and connectivity. A standout segment, the Live Song Plug, invites topliners to present new material to an audience of Chinese and international artists, fostering spontaneous artistic exchange. Meanwhile, a cultural insight session offers a rare glimpse into the evolution of music markets across regions, illuminating trends, challenges, and opportunities.
Cheerful Music’s approach exemplifies a broader phenomenon: the globalization of electronic music. By merging Eastern motifs with Western production techniques, the label has cultivated a sound that is distinctively Chinese yet universally resonant. Building The Bridge is not simply a concert; it is a statement of intent, an invitation for collaboration, and a platform for dialogue between disparate yet increasingly interconnected musical worlds.
Tickets for the event start at €15, with a limited number of complimentary passes available through networking drinks hosted by the label. For those seeking to witness the future of electronic music and to experience a thoughtful intersection of cultures, Cheerful Music’s ADE showcase offers an evening that is as intellectually stimulating as it is sonically exhilarating—a true testament to the power of music to transcend borders.
