LA-based singer-songwriter Maddie Regent returns with “Lizzy,” a playful, cinematic pop single about two people fighting an attraction neither of them can shake.
Today, Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter Maddie Regent returns with “Lizzy,” a playful, cinematic pop song about the magnetic pull between two people who are determined not to fall for each other. The single arrives with an official music video directed by Maya Sassoon, who also created the single’s cover art.
Built on sharp, conversational writing and simmering romantic tension, “Lizzy” follows a narrator who keeps trying to convince herself that she hates someone she clearly cannot stay away from — even showing up at a party she swore she would skip. The song plays out like an enemies-to-lovers story lifted from the pages of a romance novel.
“My favorite love stories start with two enemies who spend all their time fighting their attraction to one another,” Regent says. “I wanted to write a song that captured that stubborn inevitable love.”

Born and raised in Toronto and now based in Los Angeles, Regent builds immersive songs where romance, anxiety, fantasy and heartbreak collide. She started writing at 12, began pursuing music seriously in college, and made her debut in 2021. Since then she has released two EPs, MISS REGENT and Girl of Your Dreams, along with her 2025 debut full-length album, On the phone with my mom, earning praise from outlets including Ones To Watch, Atwood Magazine and EARMILK.
