A24’s ‘You Can See Everything’ Expands to 2,500+ Screens After Record-Breaking Documentary Debut

Directors Lance Oppenheim and Nathan Fielder behind the scenes of You Can See Everything

The most unlikely box office story of the fall keeps getting bigger. A24 has announced that You Can See Everything, its Elizabeth Holmes documentary from Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, will expand to more than 2,500 screens nationwide this weekend — adding over 1,600 theaters in a single week.

The expansion follows a debut that stunned the industry: $15.6 million from just 855 theaters, the biggest opening for a documentary in two decades and the second-best non-concert documentary launch in history, fueled by more than 2,000 sold-out screenings after a surprise premiere at Telluride in September. The film holds a 98% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 97 on Metacritic.

Made in secret over three years, the 174-minute film follows Fielder and Oppenheim as they spend time with Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes and her partner Billy Evans in the period before Holmes began her prison sentence — an access story that keeps audiences guessing about everyone on screen, filmmakers included. Reported to have cost under $7 million, it is already challenging for this weekend’s No. 1 spot against DC’s Clayface.

International audiences will have to wait a little longer: A24 will open the film in the UK and Australia on November 20, with further territories to follow.

Director Beth de Araújo

The Montclair Film Festival has named Beth de Araújo its 2026 Breakthrough Director, honoring the filmmaker on Sunday, October 18 at The Bellevue Theatre following a screening of her new film, Josephine.

In presenting the award, the festival praised de Araújo’s “compassionate and deeply felt exploration of trauma, humanity, and the responsibilities that bind us to one another” — the qualities that have marked her rise as one of the most closely watched American directors of her generation.

De Araújo first drew major attention as the writer and director of Soft & Quiet, her blistering debut feature, which premiered at SXSW and earned her a place on year-end lists and awards ballots for breakthrough filmmaking. Josephine is her second feature, and the Montclair honor — part of the festival’s annual Honors program, which this year also salutes Ava DuVernay and Tony Gilroy — confirms her standing as a director whose work travels.

The 14th Montclair Film Festival runs October 16–25 in Montclair, New Jersey.
