The atmosphere was electric as guests and fans got a first look at the series, which promises to be an emotional and entertaining ride. Erica delivered an amazing interview, and her castmates spoke highly of her, emphasizing her growth and the authenticity she brings to the show.

Award-winning actor Malik Yoba was on hand to moderate the post-screening discussion which included GODCOMPLX cast members Allen Maldonado, Nzinga Blake, Nakisha Celistan and Daraiha Greene (who also serves as Google’s Head of Multicultural Engagement, CS in Media) along with co-executive producer, director and writer Morenike Joela.

A few days earlier in Atlanta, Google served as a sponsor of the annual Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation Boys Mentoring Camp, where over 200 fatherless teen boys (along with their moms) were immersed in a four-day program of seminars designed to educate the young men on principles of manhood, leadership and community empowerment. Daraiha Greene made remarks at the Welcome Dinner on Thursday, encouraging the campers to consider careers in technology.

CS in Media is an initiative from Google that seeks to drive underrepresented groups (i.e. people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, etc.) toward careers in tech by shifting the narrative of computer science through mainstream media.

Gentleman Jack made its final stop on the Real to Reel local film screening tour in Miami held on June 14th during the American Black Film Festival opening week. In collaboration with Codeblack Entertainment Gentleman Jack is proud to continue helping uplift the voices of emerging Black film creatives and showcase their works to new audiences.

The Miami film screening was hosted by Anthony Rose, Codeblack Entertainment writer and director. The event featured the official, live announcement of the 2018 national Real to Reel contest winner. NAACP Image Award-winning actor, Omari Hardwick, will also make an appearance to discuss the works of these filmmakers.

Signature Gentleman Jack cocktails will be served and attendees will be able to engage in a discussion with featured filmmakers:

-Jan Mullins (2017 national contest winner), with the short film, Soul Fire
-Arthur Smith, with the short film, Office Sweats
-Damien Smith, with the short film, Daddy’s Big Girl

Season 2 Premiere of NBC Marlon airs on June 14th 9pm/8c.  Mattie James and Tahira Joy hosted a women’s brunch Sunday in Atlanta featuring two of the cast members Essence Atkins and Bresha Webb. While his misguided fatherly advice, unstoppable larger-than-life personality and unpredictable Internet superstardom might get in the way sometimes, for Marlon, family really always does come first – even if he’s the biggest kid of all.

The cast includes Marlon Wayans, Essence Atkins, Notlim Taylor, Amir O’Neil, Bresha Webb and Diallo Riddle.

For 15 seasons, Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company has created masterful works of theatre art that honor the African American experience, lift up diverse voices, and create cultural understanding. In honor of those that have championed True Colors Theatre Company’s mission of celebrating the tradition of Black storytelling while giving voice to bold new artists of all cultures, they announce the first annual True Colors Applauds: Ovation Circle Awards Brunch – which will take place on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Solis Hotel.

 The last 15 years would not have been possible without the support of companies, foundations and individuals that have supported True Colors, establishing the theatre as a staple in the arts community. The Ovation Circle Giving Society was established to usher the theatre forward into the next fifteen years. The True Colors Applauds: Ovation Circle Awards Brunch was created to celebrate those that have brought the theatre to this point.

Emceed by Monica Pearson, the True Colors Applauds: Ovation Circle Awards Brunch program will include the presentation of five awards to individuals and organizations that have positively impacted the arts community. Four of the awards are grounded in True Colors’ core values of Abundance, Laughter, Respect, and Boldness, and a fifth award – the Jane Bishop National Theatre Award – is named after our late Co-Founder, who illuminated the path that led to the creation of True Colors. 

 Tad Hutcheson, Vice President of Community Affairs at Delta Air Lines, will accept the Abundance Award on behalf of Delta Air Lines, applauding the company’s outstanding support of the arts community.

 Elisabeth and Afemo Omilami, Executive Director and Programs Operations Manager, respectively, of Hosea Helps, will receive the Laughter Award, applauding their artistry and their work in the social justice field.

 Lisa Cremin, Director of Community Advancement at The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, will receive the Respect Award, applauding her exceptional work as an influencer in the arts community.

 Lain Shakespeare, Corporate Citizenship Director at MailChimp, will accept the Boldness Award on behalf of MailChimp, applauding the company’s outstanding work in supporting the cause of social justice in our community.

 Harry Lennix, Actor and Director, will receive the Jane Bishop National Theatre Award, applauding his commitment to supporting arts and culture causes that uplift future generations.

Elijah J held a private video shoot Thursday night in Atlanta, GA. Elijah was on the scene conducting interviews and gave UMEEKTV an exclusive behind the scenes of his new music video Release feat Coy Stewart which drops later this summer.

Elijah ”EJ” Johnson is an True Triple Threat entertainer. Elijah J is a mix between a young Will Smith, Usher, & Michael Jackson all in one. At an early age Elijah J was invited to perform Jackson 5 mini concerts around the country, being that Michael Jackson was his biggest inspiration to perform. Then at 9yrs old, he was cast, out of close to 8,000 kids, to star in Disney’s Broadway Musical, “The Lion King” as Young Simba. Elijah J starred in the Las Vegas production, National Touring production & briefly in NYC’s Broadway production. Elijah J still is still the only child actor to play Young Simba in all three productions. At 13 yrs old, Elijah J was chosen out of thousands of kids who auditioned across the country to be one of five lead singers in the national TV/Live singing group, “Kidz Bop”. Elijah J was a Kidz Bop kid for over 3 years, being apart of the many commercials, cd’s Kidz Bop 20-Kidz Bop 24, all four albums made Billboard Top 5 (Hot 100) music charts & Three national tours. In 2013, Elijah J joined the Global R&B boy band “Mindless Behavior” as the Lead singer and signed to EPIC records.” On his 18th birthday, the group released their album “#OfficialMBmusic” as an Independent group with Distribution from ADA Warner Brothers, along with 3 music videos (linked below). He also most recently starred as the lead character, this summer in a feature film called “Misguided” that is set to be released by “Studio 11 films” in 2017.  In this film, Elijah J not only starred in the lead role, but also helped shoot some of the film behind the scenes.

Melissa McCarthy releases new film “Life of the Party” Monday night in Opelika, Alabama for the students of Auburn University. Auburn University knocked out 25 universities which landed them the World Premiere of Life of the Party featuring cast members Gillian Jacobs, Matt Walsh, Molly Gordon, Julie Bowen, Dave Need, Debby Ryan, Stephen Root, Adria Arjona, Luke Benward, Jimmy O. Yang, and film director Ben Falcone. McCarthy and husband co-produce & wrote the film.  Auburn won the social media contest where hundreds of fans came to party.

McCarthy plays a housewife who dropped out of college senior year to raise her daughter Madison. Her husband files for a divorce while McCarthy decides to enter college and takes partying to another level. You must check out the movie on May 11th to see what happens next.
