Big Dese drops “Word To Mick”
Hittin harder than Ted Williams in his heyday, Big Dese & Mike Martinez return. New single “Word To Mick” is another dose of grown man rap for the boom bap set. Taken from the recently released No Respect 2 LP, Dese said of the track, “I think this song pretty much hammers home the no respect theme. Putting out numerous dope projects and getting very little traction in the game, on top of dealing with aggravation of everyday life, it’s like the song says, I get no satisfaction.”

“Word To Mick” follows a flurry of other recent singles from the album including “Just Passin’ By” and “Meteor” which also got a video treatment (links below).

With a strong chemistry and work ethic, No Respect 2 is actually the tenth collaborative project that Big Dese and Mike Martinez have dropped within the last two years. That’s also in between Dese’s recent full-length with Producer Confidence and Martinez also releasing projects with G Fam Black, Jezus Martinez and his own solo material.
Speaking on the link-up Martinez said “I think the reason me and Dese click so well is that we have both have over twenty years invested in hip-hop and not a lot to show for it (outside of our skills). One of the first songs we did was called “Love/Hate Relationship” and that sums it up.”
Taking its title and interludes from the late/great stand-up icon, Rodney Dangerfield the album is a lot of punchlines, unfiltered opinions and disrespectful bars over a variety of musical moods from a creator inspired by 90’s sample-based boom-bap.
No Respect 2 is out now via digital platforms and the duo revealed that they currently have three projects cued up and ready to go in the near future as well.

Retro gaming meets professional mic rippers for a new single. Great Neck, NY’s AWOL Da Mindwriter continues his audio partnership with August Fanon (Mach Hommy, Vic Spencer) for “Chaos Control.” A reference to a Sega Dreamcast early 90’s classic, Sonic Adventure 2 the high velocity bars are amplified with guest appearance from underground legend, Planet Asia (and cuts by DJ Pinn).. Speaking on the link-up AWOL said “Chaos Control was a power-up in the Sonic universe used for battle. I view this track as a blood-sport with two emcees making other emcees not wanna reckon with us.”

“Chaos Control” is the newest leak from the forthcoming collaborative AWOL Da Mindwriter and August Fanon album, Now Loading. Several other tracks from the project have previously been released including the recent “Altered Beast,” “Disconnected” and “Golden Gun” (links below).
