Bonnie Medicine’s ‘Belonging’ EP – A Healing Soundscape for Our Time
Bonnie Medicine’s new EP, Belonging, offers listeners a deeply moving and introspective exploration of human connection, healing, and spiritual awakening. With her roots firmly planted in the heart of Scotland, Bonnie blends the raw beauty of acoustic folk with a touch of ethereal New Age influences. Her sound is undeniably unique, a musical landscape where nature, personal struggle, and the strength of community converge in harmonious resonance. Belonging, isn’t just a collection of songs—it’s an invitation to reconnect with ourselves, each other, and the earth, offering solace and empowerment in a world often marked by division and disconnection.
The EP opens with the striking ‘We Belong’, a song that serves as both an anthem and a plea for unity. Bonnie’s soothing vocals weave a comforting message of belonging, one that’s especially poignant in the context of today’s socially fragmented world. Its message is simple yet powerful: no matter the challenges we face, we all have a place in the world, and together, we can heal. The track’s dreamy instrumentation, with its soft acoustic guitar and ambient undertones, creates an atmosphere of peace that invites listeners to reflect on their own sense of connection to the world around them.
One of the most remarkable aspects of, Belonging, is Bonnie’s reverence for the natural world, which comes to the forefront in the hauntingly beautiful ‘Holy Trees’. With its ethereal instrumentation and meditative pace, the song serves as both a tribute and a call to protect the earth. Bonnie’s voice is filled with a sense of reverence and awe as she sings about the wisdom and sanctity of trees, urging listeners to recognize the power and life force that flows through the natural world. The track feels almost like a sacred ritual, an invitation to reconnect with the earth on a spiritual level.
The emotional depth of ‘Heartbroken’ shifts the tone of the EP, diving into personal grief and the collective wounds we all carry. The minimalist arrangement lets Bonnie’s raw, evocative vocals take center stage, and her vulnerability in this track is palpable. It’s a cathartic exploration of loss, and in its vulnerability, it provides a sense of shared human experience, allowing listeners to process their own grief and find healing through the music. The track’s tender, aching beauty offers a comforting reminder that even in our darkest moments, we are not alone.
Closing with two powerful tracks—’Warriors’ and ‘Wild Bodies’—Belonging, brings a sense of empowerment and joy. ‘Warriors’ is a rallying cry for resilience, urging listeners to rise above challenges and stand in their strength. Meanwhile, ‘Wild Bodies’ is a joyful celebration of life, urging us to embrace our bodies, the present moment, and the freedom that comes with living fully. With, Belonging, Bonnie Medicine has crafted an EP that not only inspires but also heals. It is a beautifully crafted work that speaks to the collective soul, reminding us all of our intrinsic connection to each other, the earth, and the divine.

From 46th to 3rd: Asokwa Municipal Assembly’s Remarkable Rise in Financial Governance
A year can make a remarkable difference, and for the Asokwa Municipal Assembly, it has changed everything.
After placing 46th in 2024, the Assembly has surged to an impressive 3rd position in Ghana’s 2025 Public Financial Management Compliance League Table, earning national recognition for its commitment to transparency, accountability and responsible financial management.
The Public Financial Management Compliance League Table, supported by the European Union and coordinated by the Centre for Local Governance Advocacy (CLGA), assesses all 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies across the country. It measures how effectively assemblies manage public funds through budgeting, procurement, revenue generation and financial reporting.
Asokwa’s score of 92.00% placed it among the very best in Ghana, with only Bia East District Assembly and Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly ranking ahead. The performance stands well above the national average of 56.20%, underlining the municipality’s exceptional progress.

Behind this success is a deliberate commitment to strengthening financial discipline. Under the leadership of Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Amoh Kamel, the Assembly has embraced reforms aimed at improving compliance with financial regulations and ensuring greater accountability in the use of public resources.
The national recognition was formally presented during an awards ceremony, where Hon. Gladys G.N. Tetteh, Deputy Executive Director of CLGA, presented the Assembly with an award acknowledging its outstanding performance. The citation commended Asokwa’s efforts in improving public financial management and maintaining compliance throughout the financial management process.
The Assembly’s remarkable improvement demonstrates what focused leadership, teamwork and dedication to good governance can achieve. Rising 43 places within a single year is a significant accomplishment that reflects consistency, careful planning and efficient execution.
Asokwa’s latest achievement not only brings pride to the municipality but also serves as a benchmark for other local assemblies striving to improve governance and accountability.
As the municipality celebrates this milestone, attention now turns to sustaining these standards and pursuing an even greater achievement in the years ahead.
