Buffalo emcee Gaine$ drops “Real 1”
Buffalo everyman Gaine$ returns with new visuals for“Real 1.” An introspectiveand inspired dose of soulful hip-hop. Filmed partly on location at the Mint Cocktail Bar in his hometown, the video follows Gaine$ today as the businessman and the street operative yesterday. As he says “it’s inspired by the ideal of triumph. Getting your hands dirty but coming out clean on the other side.”

Silent Funk +1 drop new video/single “Say Less”
Defenders of the Hip-Hop Universe Silent Funk +1 take on “The Wackness Group” in a new video. “Say Less” is partly inspired by emcee Rhinoceros Funk’s hatred of that term. As he states “My issues with the grammatical chaos have provided many a chuckle during intense Silent Funk conversations. One day Silent Someone (producer) called me while wearing a smoking jacket and stuffing his whale bone pipe and said we use the phrase correctly to persuade these bums to ‘Say Less’ and encourage them to zip they lips and move on.
In the animated video, Rhino, Silent and the third member of the group, DJ JS-1 use their hard-earned hip-hop skills to topple Microwave Cooks, DJ Dishpan hands and producer Lord HypeBeast. Speaking on what these characters represent JS-1 said “to me those characters represent the typical clones that oversaturate the hip hop landscape. The one’s who think they are killing it because they post a lot of nonsense on social media or drop an album every twenty-seven minutes.”

“Say Less” appears on the forthcoming Silent Funk +1 LP U Ain’t Special (to be released in vinyl and digital format). When the group announced the LP recently they did it with a special track/video entitled “U Ain’t Special (The Promo)”

The album title is a direct sentiment of how the trio of Rhinoceros Funk (emcee), Silent Someone (producer) and DJ JS-1 feel about the current generation of operators in the hip-hop space. As JS-1 states, “In this modern era where tech allows ANYONE to jump in and do anything, nothing is special. Most of the people everyone puts on pedestals are not even slightly special. They are dime a dozen with fantastic engagement on social media.” Or as Rhino succinctly states “Let me remind you of what’s inside you brother..NOTHING!!! I ain’t special … and if I ain’t special you ain’t special!”
U Ain’t Special follows last year’s LP Silence B4 Da Funk, which was the first LP as a trio, though Rhino and Silent Someone have released two prior albums as a duo (2022’s Self-titled LP and 2024’s Silent Funk 2 A Funky Silence EP).
