David Otunga Wins Custody of Son, Jennifer Hudson Drops Order of Protection

Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga split after almost ten years of being engaged. The former wrestler now has full custody of their son.

Sources tell TMZ Jennifer Hudson and David reached a temporary custody agreement which gives him custody of 8-year-old David Jr. the majority of the time. Jennifer is currently in London shooting “The Voice UK” and she’s committed to significant travel to Los Angeles to do “The Voice.”

As we reported, David has said he’s been his son’s primary caregiver since birth because of Jennifer’s travel schedule. Apparently they both now acknowledge that he will again become the primary custodial parent, at least until a formal custody agreement is worked out.

We’re also told Jennifer also voluntarily dropped her order of protection, which prohibited David from having contact with their son or her.

As for the family home, we’re told David will not be moving back.

But, Tyrese out here lying and making a mockery of mental illness and still got joint custody. Chile.

Harvey Brownstone will be a featured guest on “If These Walls Could Talk” with hosts Wendy Stuart and Tym Moss on Wednesday, July 8^th, 2026 at 2 PM ET live from the infamous Pangea Restaurant.

Harvey Brownstone was appointed Canada’s first openly gay judge in 1995 at the young age of 38. For 26 years he presided in criminal and family court in the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto. He was the first sitting judge in the world to write a best-selling book: “Tug of War: A Judge’s Verdict on Separation, Custody Battles and the Bitter Realities of Family Court”, aimed at realistically educating the public about what really happens in family court.

He then became the first sitting judge in the world to host a prime time nationally televised talk show: “Family Matters with Justice Harvey Brownstone”, which featured world class experts to discuss the justice system, marriage breakdown, the best interests of children and more. In 2003, when same-sex marriage was legalized in Canada, Harvey became internationally known as “the face and voice of marriage equality”, officiating at thousands of same-sex weddings, including the wedding of Edith Windsor & Thea Spyer, which triggered the US Supreme Court case that overturned the Defense of Marriage Act and paving the way for the legalization of same-sex marriage in America.
