Dom Malin Comes Full Circle with Intimate New Single ‘Tapping Out’

For Midlands-based singer-songwriter Dom Malin, his latest single, Tapping Out, represents a full-circle moment in his journey as an artist. The song, rich with emotional depth, encapsulates themes of perseverance and personal growth, resonating deeply with listeners. Known for his tireless dedication to his craft, Malin has spent years touring across the UK, Europe, and the USA, cultivating a devoted following. His music, always evolving yet deeply personal, is a testament to his resilience and gratitude for the journey he has undertaken.
Speaking about the meaning behind Tapping Out, Malin shares, “This song is a personal journey through the emotional trek of running from the past while carrying the weight of failure. It’s about confronting loneliness, regret, and the ache of unfulfilled expectations. For me, this reflects both personal and professional struggles—failed relationships and trying to rebuild a life through music, chasing a dream that sometimes feels out of reach.” The single is sonically immersive, beginning with a delicate combination of guitar and piano before building into a powerful crescendo, only to strip back to raw vulnerability at the end, mirroring the emotional journey within the lyrics.
Malin is no stranger to exploring themes of introspection in his music. His 2024 releases, Hurricane and Keep Out The Rain, were both lauded for their emotional depth and folk-infused indie textures. With a growing global audience, Malin has successfully transitioned to a full-time music career, engaging fans through live performances and digital interactions. Reflecting on his journey, he remarks, “2024 was a year of building my community and growing a loyal following. I never expected that going live on TikTok for the first time in October would bring such a beautiful, diverse range of people. From South America to Australia, I’ve had fans reach out and share personal stories.”
As he continues to expand his reach, Malin has a headline show set for March 29, 2025, in Madrid at El Sótano, a direct result of his music’s impact on fans worldwide. “Each livestream feels like a social gathering at a cosy café — we hang out, share stories, and support one another in a safe space. Not only do they support my music, but they also support each other. This incredible community has been a huge reason why I’m able to pursue music full-time,” he adds.
With Tapping Out, Dom Malin sets the stage for another momentous year filled with new music and live performances. From humble beginnings as a busker to supporting acts like Dermot Kennedy and Paris Paloma, Malin continues to forge a path defined by passion, authenticity, and an unwavering connection to his audience. His journey is a testament to the transformative power of music, and with each new release, he solidifies his place as a compelling voice in the indie-folk scene.
