Dual-Threat Matt Schletty Has Roswell Rolling at 6-2
Defenses facing Roswell this fall have a problem with no easy answer, and his name is Matt Schletty. The Hornets’ senior quarterback beats teams with his arm, punishes them with his legs, and has Roswell sitting at 6-2 heading into the stretch run.
According to MaxPreps, Schletty leads Roswell in rushing at 90.1 yards per game, a remarkable number for a quarterback. He has thrown eight touchdown passes and run for 10 more scores, which means he has had a hand in 18 Hornets touchdowns this season.
Roswell’s results back up the numbers. The Hornets have scored 262 points in eight games, including a 43-3 rout of Johns Creek on October 16 and a 39-13 region win at Alpharetta the week before. Their only losses have come against Newton and Gainesville, two of the strongest teams in Georgia.
The Hornets’ season has been building to this point since August. Roswell opened with a 32-20 win over Walton, rolled past Etowah 52-17 and Archer 37-21, and opened region play with a 39-15 win at Lanier. ITG Next ranks the Hornets No. 10 in Georgia’s Class 6A, and with Schletty accounting for touchdowns as both a runner and a passer, Roswell’s offense has scored at least 32 points in every one of its wins this season.
Schletty has weapons, too. Sophomore receiver Chase Jackson averages 39.3 receiving yards per game, senior Dre Cousey has scored six total touchdowns as a receiver and running back, and senior back Ian Hulbert adds 51.4 rushing yards a game, so defenses cannot simply spy the quarterback and call it a plan.
The schedule still has drama left. Riverwood visits on Friday, October 23, and the regular season closes with a trip to Milton on November 6, a game that could carry serious playoff seeding weight.
With a senior quarterback who leads his team in rushing and accounts for touchdowns every way imaginable, Roswell is a team nobody in Fulton County wants to see in November.

Miller Grove Wolverines Hunting a Strong Finish After a Season of Fights
The Miller Grove Wolverines opened their season with a statement, and they have been fighting ever since. A 31-0 shutout of Chamblee in the opener showed what this Lithonia team can be, and the Wolverines have spent the fall proving that night was no fluke.
Miller Grove owns a 35-6 road win at McNair and a 20-8 win at Carver in Atlanta, victories built on defense and toughness. Look at those three wins together and a pattern emerges: Chamblee scored zero, McNair scored six and Carver scored eight. When the Wolverines win, they win with a defense that gives up almost nothing, and that identity travels anywhere. At 3-4, with 131 points scored and 135 allowed, nearly every Wolverines game this season has been a genuine fight, decided by which team made the plays late.
That includes the tough nights. The Wolverines fell 42-10 to a strong Columbia team on October 16 and dropped a 28-21 heartbreaker at M.L. King in an all-DeKalb battle earlier this season. Those are the kinds of games a program learns from.
That defensive identity is worth repeating, because it is rare: across their three wins, the Wolverines have allowed a total of 14 points. Fourteen. In an era of spread offenses and video-game scores, Miller Grove wins the old-fashioned way, with tackling, discipline and a defense that takes points personally. That travels in November, and it gives the Wolverines a real chance in every game left on the schedule.
The closing stretch gives Miller Grove every chance to finish the right way. South Atlanta visits on Friday, October 23, then the Wolverines travel to Cedar Grove on October 30 before closing at home against Redan.
Three games, three chances to turn a season of fights into a winning finish. In Lithonia, the Wolverines and their families have every reason to believe that is exactly what happens next.
