Edmonton’s BONEYARD Ride Into the Wild West With New Video ‘Hanging Tree’ From Upcoming Album ‘Black Static’ Out Oct 2026
Canadian hard rock and heavy metal outfit Boneyard has released their third single and video, "Hanging Tree," taken from the forthcoming sophomore album "Black Static," due out on October 23, 2026.
Following the powerful first single "Before the Fall" and the high-seas battle anthem "Compass Points to War," Boneyard returns with a completely different side of their songwriting on the wildly entertaining "Hanging Tree."
A tongue-in-cheek Western metal adventure, "Hanging Tree" embraces camp, chaos, and classic storytelling. Built around country-inspired harmonies, crunchy metal riffs, and an infectious sense of fun, the track follows a wanted outlaw who "accidentally" robs a train, guns down a man, and finds himself pursued by the local sheriff. As the noose tightens, the outlaw reflects on his crimes, admitting that his only true regret is leaving behind the woman he loves before ultimately facing the infamous Hanging Tree.
According to vocalist and guitarist Pamtera, the accompanying video doubles down on the song's playful spirit. "The 'Hanging Tree' video is a tongue-in-cheek Western metal showdown like you've never seen before, packed with gunslingers, outlaws, a sultry goth cowgirl, and a hangman's noose. It's equal parts grit, groove, and gallows humor, showing Boneyard's ability to blend heavy hooks with cinematic flair."
Written and produced by the band, the video highlights not only Boneyard's musicianship but also the group's well-known sense of humour that has become a defining part of their identity both on and off stage.

Set for release on October 23, 2026, "Black Static" builds upon the foundation established by Boneyard's acclaimed debut album "Oathbreaker" while introducing fresh influences from the band's revitalized lineup.
Described by drummer Jefftimus as an extension of the band's first record, "Black Static" blends modern female-fronted hard rock with traditional heavy metal, classic hard rock, punk energy, and melodic songwriting. With the addition of bassist Lezzy and lead guitarist Garhardt, "Black Static" marks the first full-length release showcasing the chemistry and creative contributions of the band's current lineup.
"It's an extension of the first album Oathbreaker, having a diverse collection of songs. At the same time, it features different elements through Lezzy and Garhardt's unique contributions," adds Jefftimus.
The album features nine carefully selected tracks that were road-tested in front of live audiences over several years before making the final cut. Lyrically, the record draws from deeply personal experiences, social issues, mental health struggles, addiction, grief, perseverance, and hope. From the emotional heartbreak of "Met You in a Dream," to the crushing personal triumph of "Left Me to Drown," the devastating true story behind "Not This Way (Joel's Song)," and the uplifting messages found throughout the album, "Black Static" balances heaviness with humanity.
The album artwork once again comes courtesy of acclaimed Calgary artist Tom Bagley, whose illustrations featuring the band's mascot Misty Bone have become a signature element of Boneyard's visual identity.
Formed in 2015 by vocalist/guitarist Pamtera and drummer Jefftimus, Boneyard evolved from a successful cover band into one of Western Canada's most exciting hard rock and heavy metal acts.
After independently releasing their debut album "Oathbreaker" in 2020, the band caught the attention of Italy's WormHoleDeath Records, which reissued the album internationally in 2022. The record was mastered by Grammy-nominated and Juno-winning engineer Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, Annihilator, Dokken) and helped establish the band on a global stage.
Since then, Boneyard has built a reputation for powerful live performances featuring soaring vocal harmonies, memorable hooks, and a unique blend of classic heavy metal and modern female-fronted hard rock. The band has shared stages with acts including 96 Bitter Beings, KingDoom, and Deadwolff, while performing at major Western Canadian events such as Decimate Metalfest, Pembina River Nights, and Métisfest.
Recommended for fans of Halestorm, Saxon, Doro, The Pretty Reckless, and Iron Maiden, "Black Static" will be available October 23, 2026, digitally and on CD, with a vinyl release to be announced later.

Feel The Power of the Rift From Cosmic Metal THE ASTRAL PROPHETS’ New Single Off Debut Album ‘Invasion’ Out October 30th
Calgary, AB's sci-fi-powered groove metal force THE ASTRAL PROPHETS are back with their latest single, "Power of the Rift," the newest offering from their upcoming full-length album "Invasion," set for release on October 30th. Combining soaring melodies, massive riffs, cinematic synth layers, and infectious hooks, the track perfectly captures the band's self-described "Power Groove" sound.
Emerging from the ashes of Calgary progressive folk metal veterans Scythia, The Astral Prophets were formed in 2019 by guitarist AJ Bergin, bassist Terry Savage, and drummer Celine Derval with a vision to create something heavier, more direct, and rooted in a sprawling sci-fi universe of alien invasions, advanced civilizations, and dystopian futures. Since then, the band has evolved into a powerhouse lineup featuring vocalist Staci Allen, drummer Kyle Summers, guitarists AJ Bergin and Harley D'Orazio, with Terry Savage continuing as the band's chief songwriter and creative backbone.
"Power of the Rift" represents everything The Astral Prophets have become. Originally conceived during the pandemic lockdowns, the song began as an experiment in chord-driven songwriting before evolving into one of the most defining tracks on Invasion. Driven by an irresistible riff, towering melodies, and a wealth of atmospheric synths and sound effects, the track became the blueprint for the band's signature "Power Groove" identity.
"'Power of the Rift' is the song that screams our made-up genre, 'Power Groove.' Epic, dancy, and powerful. It's right there in the name," says guitarist AJ Bergin.
While the music reaches toward the stars, the song's lyrical themes balance the cosmic with the personal. Lead vocalist Staci Allen drew inspiration from cherished memories and feelings of joy and connection, creating a narrative that captures the sensation of "loving at the speed of light" amid the song's intergalactic backdrop.
The single serves as the latest preview of "Invasion," an ambitious eight-track concept-driven album filled with themes of anger, retribution, madness, love, and longing, all filtered through The Astral Prophets' rich sci-fi mythology. Musically, the album showcases the band's growth from the groove-oriented foundations of their early singles and 2023 EP "Anywhere But Here" into a heavier, more layered, and more cinematic force featuring symphonic elements, dynamic arrangements, and relentless energy.
"We wanted to bring an album that improves upon our already unique style. During our EP, we started to dial in our sound, but now we are delivering an LP in our full form. We brought the music back to our heavier roots. The riffs are stronger. The leads are melodic and smooth. The drums are driving, and Staci's singing is more ballsy. Every song is amazing in its own right, and we couldn't be prouder of them," adds Bergin.
Known for their high-energy live shows, synchronized stage performance, and undeniable enthusiasm on stage, The Astral Prophets continue to build momentum within Canada's metal scene while carving out a distinct niche that blends groove metal, power metal, hard rock, and science-fiction storytelling into one unforgettable experience.
With "Power of the Rift," The Astral Prophets deliver an epic blend of soaring melodies, massive riffs, and cosmic atmosphere, offering another glimpse into their upcoming full-length album, "Invasion," out October 30th. Showcasing the band's signature "Power Groove" sound, the track balances cinematic sci-fi energy with an infectious sense of momentum and melody.
