Jace German Has Tucker Perfect at 7-0 and Dreaming Big
Perfect seasons are built one Friday at a time, and senior quarterback Jace German is building one at Tucker. The Tigers are 7-0, ranked in Georgia’s Top 25, and their quarterback keeps delivering when the lights are brightest.
German’s latest outing was a 35-7 win over Jackson-Atlanta, where he threw for 253 yards to keep Tucker unbeaten. It was the kind of command performance Tigers fans have come to expect from their senior leader, who wears number 2 and plays like the moment is never too big.
The resume is stacking up. German was named the DeKalb County School District Kickoff Offensive Player of the Game when Tucker beat Columbia 35-26 in the DeKalb County Classic to open the season. Since then, the Tigers have upset Rome 41-14 on the road, beaten Stephenson 21-14 in the Battle of the Big Cats, routed Druid Hills 56-0 and shut down Southwest DeKalb 20-7 in a defensive battle.
That 3-0 start, by the way, was Tucker’s first since 2013. This group is not just winning, it is making a little history along the way.
German does not carry the load alone. Senior linebacker Jamare Tolliver was named the district Kickoff Defensive Player of the Game in that same Columbia win, and Tucker’s roster is stacked with senior leadership at every position. This is a program with two state championships, in 2008 and 2011, and 12 region titles in its trophy case, and this senior class is playing like it wants to add to the collection.
Banneker visits on Friday, October 23, with the Tigers looking to carry their unbeaten season into November. The game is set for Adams Stadium, and if German keeps playing at this level, a perfect regular season is suddenly a very real conversation in Tucker. Behind him, the Tigers are not just dreaming about a deep playoff run. They are playing like they expect one.

Miller Grove Wolverines Hunting a Strong Finish After a Season of Fights
The Miller Grove Wolverines opened their season with a statement, and they have been fighting ever since. A 31-0 shutout of Chamblee in the opener showed what this Lithonia team can be, and the Wolverines have spent the fall proving that night was no fluke.
Miller Grove owns a 35-6 road win at McNair and a 20-8 win at Carver in Atlanta, victories built on defense and toughness. Look at those three wins together and a pattern emerges: Chamblee scored zero, McNair scored six and Carver scored eight. When the Wolverines win, they win with a defense that gives up almost nothing, and that identity travels anywhere. At 3-4, with 131 points scored and 135 allowed, nearly every Wolverines game this season has been a genuine fight, decided by which team made the plays late.
That includes the tough nights. The Wolverines fell 42-10 to a strong Columbia team on October 16 and dropped a 28-21 heartbreaker at M.L. King in an all-DeKalb battle earlier this season. Those are the kinds of games a program learns from.
That defensive identity is worth repeating, because it is rare: across their three wins, the Wolverines have allowed a total of 14 points. Fourteen. In an era of spread offenses and video-game scores, Miller Grove wins the old-fashioned way, with tackling, discipline and a defense that takes points personally. That travels in November, and it gives the Wolverines a real chance in every game left on the schedule.
The closing stretch gives Miller Grove every chance to finish the right way. South Atlanta visits on Friday, October 23, then the Wolverines travel to Cedar Grove on October 30 before closing at home against Redan.
Three games, three chances to turn a season of fights into a winning finish. In Lithonia, the Wolverines and their families have every reason to believe that is exactly what happens next.
