Jensyn’s ‘Golden’ – A Shimmering Ode to Self-Love and Queer Identity

Get ready to bask in the glow of Jensyn’s new single, Golden, a song that feels like a warm embrace on a chilly Liverpool night. This 24-year-old alt-pop artist, also known as Jenn Morgan, has been simmering in the UK’s music scene, and with Golden, they’re serving up an earnest, ethereal track that captures the unique mix of tenderness and introspection fans have come to love.
The track is like slipping into a sunbeam, with an acoustic, mid-tempo groove that blends alt-pop with subtle folk influences. Jensyn’s finger-picked guitar melodies drift gently over serene drone textures, while the pedal steel guitar, courtesy of Jack O’Hanlon, adds a touch of dreamy nostalgia that’ll have you swaying along. The song’s gentle bass and lush harmonies make Golden feel like the musical equivalent of watching golden hour light soften every corner of a room—it’s a soothing, cozy experience that still finds room to explore deeper themes of self-acceptance and identity.
Jensyn describes writing Golden as a kind of self-discovery, a musical safe haven where they could reflect on identity, love, and the journey of self-acceptance within the queer experience. And the magic of that introspection comes through beautifully. You can feel Jensyn’s heart in every line and every note, reminding us that true comfort is often found within.
And then there’s the music video, directed by Jensyn themself. Set to debut alongside the single, it promises to be an introspective visual journey that brings another layer to the track’s already immersive vibe. Just imagine the rich, atmospheric cinematography by Sara Wolff of Sulk Photography—known for her dreamy, evocative shots—melding perfectly with Jensyn’s lush soundscape. It’s a full sensory experience waiting to unfold.
For anyone who loved Jensyn’s January Left EP, which Youth Music UK helped bring to life, Golden feels like the next natural step. It builds on their raw, heartfelt storytelling and captivating production style, promising fans not just a song but an emotional experience. And with a new single, Ruby, slated for release on January 8, 2025, Jensyn is definitely on a roll, continuing to shape their voice within the alt-pop scene and beyond.
So, plug in, unwind, and let Golden wrap you in its warm, golden glow. Trust us—you’ll be hitting repeat.
