Late Again Delivers Masterful Tune ‘Caterpillars’

Brazilian-born, Brooklyn-based creator and dream-pop-electronic artist Late Again returns with a captivating new single and music video titled “Caterpillars.” This release follows his recent EP collection, Migraine Fever Dream, showcasing his continued evolution as an artist who masterfully blends the surreal with the real.
“Caterpillars” is more than just a song—it’s a sonic reflection of Late Again’s lived experience. Inspired by the relentless construction noise he endured for two years, as the block next to his home was demolished to make way for a skyscraper, the track delves into the chaos and perils of gentrification. This theme of disruption is vividly captured in the lyrics, where Late Again muses, “Concrete, steel, sticks, and stones / A caterpillar shattered my bones / Convert my flesh to square feet.” These lines poignantly express the physical and emotional toll of urban transformation, a struggle between survival and complicity in the very forces reshaping his world.
Sonically, “Caterpillars” is an invigorating blend of electronic beats, otherworldly synths, and elevated melodies, creating a unique fusion of electronic, indie pop, and trip hop. The track pulses with energy, transforming Late Again’s personal frustrations into a universal narrative about the impact of gentrification on communities and individuals. The accompanying music video, directed by the visionary duo Gui Bohn and Nina Torres, amplifies the song’s message with a cinematic portrayal of people bowling against a utopian cityscape. As each game progresses, the city begins to tremble and eventually crumble, a powerful metaphor for the dangers of unchecked urban development.
Late Again’s artistry shines brightly in “Caterpillars.” Drawing from a rich tapestry of influences, including Mac Demarco, Gorillaz, Beach Fossils, Devendra Banhart, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Caetano Veloso, he creates a soundscape that is both unique and deeply resonant. The track is a testament to his ability to craft music that is as thought-provoking as it is sonically engaging.
“Caterpillars” is a thrilling and transformative musical journey that invites listeners to contemplate the complexities of modern life while enjoying the ride through Late Again’s distinctive sound world. This release not only solidifies his place as a rising force in the dream pop and electronic scenes but also as a true artist with a voice and vision all his own.

Fall in Love with Dmillyyy’s New EP “Cupid Pack”

Dmillyyy kicked off the month of love with the lead single, “Balance.” “Balance” was Dmillyyy’s first song of the year. The record served as a teaser for his new EP, Cupid Pack, which was released on Valentine’s Day. Cupid Pack is a five-track EP that dives into the intricacies of love. The EP is an eclectic body of work as it utilizes various genres of music, such as Alternative R&B, Melodic Rap, and Reggaeton.
Cupid Pack starts off with the song, “Thunderstruck.” The track is a record that features a wavy beat and Dmillyyy’s smooth flow. The sound is reminiscent of Jaden. The next track, “Balance,” is a fan favorite and for good reason. “Balance” has a bouncy beat that makes listeners want to groove. The record has a Drake feel to it. The catchy hook reels you in immediately. Dmillyyy cleverly sprinkles in some Spanish lyrics, which are a prelude to the third track on the EP. “Q.M. Interludio” follows “Balance.” The Latin Music interlude showcases the versatility that Dmillyyy possesses. The penultimate track, “WYGD,” is a downtempo, love song that is enchanting. The tune has a sample that blends well with the theme of the song. “WYGD” sets up the EP’s closer as “Madness” is another slow jam. “Madness” is the perfect finale. The sensual track embodies passion and love.
The EP’s introspective/extrospective take on love provides all listeners with songs that resonate with them. Although each song has its own flavor and unique sound, they still connect and carry a cohesive message. “Cupid Pack is an image painted to describe different emotions that may arise for particular love interests.” Dmillyyy continues: “Sometimes it isn’t that serious and just the feeling that you want to cherish. Sometimes the other’s existence makes you want to question everything and reflect back on your own life. Either way, both parties are living in the moment and letting that lead the way.” Cupid Pack is only the beginning as Dmillyyy has much in store for the year. While waiting for his next masterpiece, be sure to show love to the immaculate EP that is Cupid Pack.
