After months of teasing snippets on social media and building anticipation around their upcoming album “Forgetting the Fall,” Von Venn have just dropped “Only In The Night.” The Dublin quartet had set expectations reasonably high with previous releases and they do not mess around here. But does this latest offering deliver on that promise?

This time the band tackles the thornier emotional territory of relationships that end not in flames but in quiet resignation. Cox’s vocals carry a weightiness and his tones float through the mix with confidence. Like the best indie rock that draws from both Radiohead’s introspective moments and The National’s measured melancholy, “Only In The Night” lets you absorb its themes gradually. The female harmonies blend through Cox’s lead vocals without overwhelming them, creating texture that reveals new details on repeated listens.

Cox also navigates themes of incompatible life goals and bittersweet endings here with genuine insight. His explanation of the central concept reveals thoughtful consideration instead of just manufactured drama.
