Why bby ivy’s ‘Closing Chapters’ Is the Breakup EP We All Needed

Let’s be real—breakups are tough. But they’re a little easier with a killer soundtrack, and bby ivy’s, Closing Chapters, delivers just that. The Norwegian-born, London-based singer-songwriter has crafted a seven-track masterpiece that feels like a heart-to-heart with your wisest, coolest friend. Equal parts confessional and cathartic, this EP is for anyone who’s ever loved, lost, and picked up the pieces.
The opening track, ‘The Breakup’ is a mesmerising track setting up the scene for the rest of the EP. The first taster, ‘With My Love’, hits you like the first wave of post-breakup sadness—raw, poignant, and impossible to ignore. Ivy’s vocals are as vulnerable as her lyrics, drawing you in and refusing to let go. It’s the kind of song that will have you staring out the window dramatically, whether or not it’s raining outside.
As the EP progresses, ivy shifts gears with tracks like ‘Switched Up’, a triumphant anthem about reclaiming your power. The soaring chorus and uplifting melody practically demand you to sing along, making it the perfect song for your “I’m over it” playlist. Ivy’s versatility shines here, showcasing her ability to navigate the full spectrum of post-heartbreak emotions.
The production throughout, Closing Chapters, is impeccable, balancing intimate acoustic moments with lush, layered arrangements. On tracks like ‘Meant For Me’, ivy experiments with electronic textures, adding a modern twist to her singer-songwriter roots. It’s clear she’s not afraid to push boundaries, and the result is a sound that feels both fresh and timeless.
In, Closing Chapters, ivy has created an EP that’s as therapeutic for listeners as it likely was for her to write. It’s an emotional rollercoaster you’ll want to ride again and again, whether you’re mending a broken heart or just vibing with good music. If you haven’t already hit repeat, what are you waiting for?
