Published

on

In a holiday season already filled with festive cheer, “White Christmas” gets a vibrant update courtesy of Steve Norman from Spandau Ballet and Carol Decker from T’Pau. The two 80s icons have joined forces for a unique and joyous interpretation of the classic track, blending nostalgia with a modern touch. Out now on all streaming platforms, their duet offers a fresh take that will resonate with fans of both the holiday season and 80s music.

What makes this version of “White Christmas” stand out is its unmistakable 80s flair. The track kicks off with shimmering synths and an irresistible groove that recalls the heyday of pop music, creating an uplifting atmosphere perfect for the holidays. Steve, known for his iconic saxophone work in Spandau Ballet, adds his signature touch with a smooth solo that punctuates the track’s festive feel. His multi-instrumental talents, combined with Carol’s soaring, powerful voice, make for an unforgettable collaboration.

Both Steve and Carol bring their own magic to this reworking of the holiday classic. Steve, who has had a colorful career spanning from his time with Spandau Ballet to collaborations with the likes of Iggy Pop, said he wanted to bring something fun and creative to the table. Carol, too, shared her excitement about the project, “I’ve never recorded a Christmas song before, and with Steve, it was a perfect match,” she said. Their voices complement each other effortlessly, creating a duet that feels as timeless as the song itself.

The charm of this rendition lies in its ability to balance the classic, cozy feel of the original “White Christmas” with a punch of 80s energy. It’s a song that can bring nostalgia to those who grew up with the music of the era while introducing a whole new generation to the magic of the holidays through a more modern, retro lens.

Listen to ‘White Christmas’ on streaming platforms now and add some 80s-inspired magic to your holiday playlist.

While more of a behind-the-scenes player DJ Design’s (aka Keith Griego) work has had a sizable imprint on the history of modern hip-hop. As a DJ/Beatmaker and visual artist he has contributed production and art since the late 90’s for notables including The Beastie Boys, Madlib, A.G., Foreign Legion, Rasco, Peanut Butter Wolf and Phat Kat

As a visual artist, his high point of work with the label was his design of the 12” vinyl cover for Lootpack member Madlib’s side project Quasimoto. The cover for “Microphone Mathematics” featured Design/Griego’s visual representation of Lord Quas as a sort of alien aardvark, which was adopted by the artist and has since become one of the most iconic and enduring

characters in the game today.
