Angie Perera Shares Debut Single ‘Rent’
A melodic poem mixed with South Asian percussion and Western bass to create a unique track about saying goodbye to past lovers and acknowledging self-worth.
Singer-songwriter Angie Perera brings a fresh perspective to the music industry. Her debut single ‘Rent’, infused with R&B and pop sensibilities.
The motivational feel-good production on ‘Rent’ features bass, keyboard, bongos, and an assortment of percussion. The diligent instrumentation is paired with Angie Perera’s captivating vocals that will capture the listener’s attention from the very first note.
Like all of her songs, the heartfelt lyrics to this one were written first, and then, with the help of her incredible producer SincerelyMace. They began experimenting with the piano keys, which they eventually turned to make the powerful bass that serves as the song’s foundation. To further connect with her Sri Lankan-Malawian heritage, Angie Perera added layers upon layers of vocals and, of course, her favourite bongos.
Angie Perera combines R&B and pop from South Asia with parts of her varied heritage as a Sri Lankan-Malawian to produce a sound that is both contemporary and timeless. Her song, which has the potential to resonate with listeners all over the world, demonstrates her strong narrative and emotional depth. She has a unique sound and a message that resonates with people, and she is positioned to have a significant influence on the music business
.On the song, Angie Perera says, “If you want to get inside of my head, you better pay rent.”

EMEREE’s Cinematic Pivot in ‘Eyesore’ from Pop Star to Pop Assassin

EMEREE doesn’t just make music—she curates moments. Her latest single “Eyesore” is a cinematic, sarcastic scorcher that sets a new tone for the rising Australian powerhouse. From the candy-coated production to the horror-tinged DIY music video, EMEREE is creating her own genre: camp pop noir.
The single is a masterclass in balancing artistry with attitude. Co-created with Christian Tjandrawinata, “Eyesore” proves EMEREE isn’t here to play safe. She plays sharp, with razor-lined harmonies and lyricism that stabs with a smile. It’s not just catchy—it’s calculated. The beat bounces, the vocals glide, but it’s the burn in the lines that lingers.
Visually, EMEREE doubles down. The music video is a bloody wink to 80s slasher films, with a narrative as satirical as it is symbolic. She doesn’t just kill her ex on screen—she kills the whole trope. Pop stars often tell stories of heartbreak. EMEREE turns it into performance art.
EMEREE says, “Eyesore” is the anthem for anyone who’s ever dated someone who treated them horribly and just wasn’t hot enough to get away with it.”
EMEREE is making noise for all the right reasons—and with creative backing from CAA and sessions alongside Nile Rodgers and Invisible Men, she’s not just rising. She’s plotting her pop empire. “Eyesore” is both a warning shot and a love letter to anyone who’s ever made revenge their aesthetic.
It’s the start of something bold—and we’re already obsessed.
