Anupam Kher’s remarkable career has added another country to its map. The acclaimed Indian actor is set to star in the Swedish feature film Out of Fashion, directed by Jens Jonsson, with filming already underway this week, ANI reported Friday (October 23).

Kher joins an international ensemble that includes Sunil Munshi — who also wrote the film — alongside Helena Bergström, Bahar Pars, Krista Kosonen and Astrid Whetnall. The feel-good feature is a Swedish-Belgian venture from Way Feature Films and [sic] film, co-produced with Beside Productions, Film Stockholm, SVT, Film i Skåne and Scanbox Entertainment, with support from the Swedish Film Institute and the Belgian Tax Shelter.

Producer Siri Hjorton Wagner announced the start of shooting with a set photo of Kher alongside Munshi and Jonsson, describing a “dream cast” for the production. Scanbox will distribute the film in the Nordics, with a cinema release planned for 2028.

For Kher — one of Indian cinema’s most prolific performers, with hundreds of screen credits and international roles including Silver Linings Playbook and Hotel Mumbai — the Swedish production is the latest milestone in a career that keeps crossing borders.

Tom Cruise in 2026

Tom Cruise is set to receive American cinema’s most prestigious career honor. The American Film Institute has named Cruise the 52nd recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award, recognising a career that has defined the modern blockbuster for more than four decades.

Few actors have shaped the theatrical era the way Cruise has. From his breakout in Risky Business and the phenomenon of Top Gun, through dramatic heavyweight turns in Rain Man, Born on the Fourth of July, A Few Good Men and Jerry Maguire, to the Mission: Impossible franchise — where his commitment to practical stunt work became the industry standard — Cruise has remained the defining movie star of his generation.

The AFI Life Achievement Award, established in 1973, is presented to a single honoree whose body of work has made a lasting contribution to American culture. For Cruise, the tribute caps a run that has consistently championed the big-screen experience, drawing global audiences back into cinemas and setting box-office benchmarks that few performers in history can match.

He joins one of the most exclusive honor rolls in film — a recognition, four decades in, that the mission is far from over.
