A Lord of the Rings reunion is coming to Netflix’s most stylish crime saga. Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood have joined the cast of The Gentlemen Season 3, Netflix announced Friday (October 23), as production on the new season gets underway in the United Kingdom and Morocco.

The two are part of a heavyweight intake of new cast members for Guy Ritchie’s series, alongside Robert Carlyle, Dexter Fletcher, Bruna Marquezine, Ed Speleers, Saffron Burrows, Philip Arditti and Bugzy Malone, joining series lead Theo James as Eddie Horniman and Kaya Scodelario.

“The ambition of The Gentlemen has accelerated, the world has expanded, and the consequences carry weight,” Ritchie told Netflix. “A third season felt inevitable, and I’m looking forward to pushing the boundaries of it further.” The series follows Horniman, a duke who finds himself at the head of a criminal organisation — and, in Season 2, tried to scale the empire against opposition from every side.

For Wood and Bloom, the season is a full-circle moment more than two decades after Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy made them stars. Wood returns to Middle-earth next as Frodo Baggins in Andy Serkis’ The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, while Bloom will next be seen in David Michôd’s Wizards!

Tom Cruise Named 52nd Recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award

Tom Cruise is set to receive American cinema’s most prestigious career honor. The American Film Institute has named Cruise the 52nd recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award, recognising a career that has defined the modern blockbuster for more than four decades.

Few actors have shaped the theatrical era the way Cruise has. From his breakout in Risky Business and the phenomenon of Top Gun, through dramatic heavyweight turns in Rain Man, Born on the Fourth of July, A Few Good Men and Jerry Maguire, to the Mission: Impossible franchise — where his commitment to practical stunt work became the industry standard — Cruise has remained the defining movie star of his generation.

The AFI Life Achievement Award, established in 1973, is presented to a single honoree whose body of work has made a lasting contribution to American culture. For Cruise, the tribute caps a run that has consistently championed the big-screen experience, drawing global audiences back into cinemas and setting box-office benchmarks that few performers in history can match.

He joins one of the most exclusive honor rolls in film — a recognition, four decades in, that the mission is far from over.
