Armwood’s Rondai Dile Is Putting Up Numbers Tampa Can’t Ignore
Some quarterbacks throw it. Some quarterbacks run it. Armwood junior Rondai Dile is beating Hillsborough County defenses both ways in the same night, and the Hawks are rolling because of it.
Dile’s latest masterpiece came Friday, October 16, when Armwood went on the road and handled Bloomingdale 38-3 for the Hawks’ sixth consecutive victory. Dile passed for 155 yards and two touchdowns, then added 84 rushing yards and three more touchdowns on just nine carries — five total touchdowns in one night from the player every defense in the district knows is getting the ball.
That performance earned Dile a spot on High School On SI’s Florida Player of the Week ballot for October 15-17, and it was no one-week wonder. A week earlier, Dile led Armwood into its biggest game of the season and walked out with a 14-7 win at Tampa Bay Tech, handing the Titans their first loss of the year in a meeting of two of Florida’s top ten teams.
The numbers around Dile tell the story of a complete team, too. Armwood is 7-1 overall, a perfect 4-0 in district play, and has outscored its opponents 268-61 this season. The Hawks have posted blowouts of Plant (56-0), Spoto (51-0) and Sumner (43-6), and their only loss came on the road at New Jersey power Don Bosco Prep back in August. In Florida, nobody has beaten them.
High School On SI’s October 19 playoff analysis placed Armwood seventh in its projected eight-team Open Division field — the new statewide bracket reserved for Florida’s very best programs. That projection is only a snapshot, and the Hawks know the finishing stretch decides everything, with Leto up next on October 23 and Jefferson closing the regular season on October 30.
But with a dual-threat quarterback accounting for five touchdowns in a single district road game, Armwood has the one thing every playoff team fears in November: a player who can win a game by himself. Hillsborough County has been put on notice — Rondai Dile is just getting started.

Miller Grove Wolverines Hunting a Strong Finish After a Season of Fights
The Miller Grove Wolverines opened their season with a statement, and they have been fighting ever since. A 31-0 shutout of Chamblee in the opener showed what this Lithonia team can be, and the Wolverines have spent the fall proving that night was no fluke.
Miller Grove owns a 35-6 road win at McNair and a 20-8 win at Carver in Atlanta, victories built on defense and toughness. Look at those three wins together and a pattern emerges: Chamblee scored zero, McNair scored six and Carver scored eight. When the Wolverines win, they win with a defense that gives up almost nothing, and that identity travels anywhere. At 3-4, with 131 points scored and 135 allowed, nearly every Wolverines game this season has been a genuine fight, decided by which team made the plays late.
That includes the tough nights. The Wolverines fell 42-10 to a strong Columbia team on October 16 and dropped a 28-21 heartbreaker at M.L. King in an all-DeKalb battle earlier this season. Those are the kinds of games a program learns from.
That defensive identity is worth repeating, because it is rare: across their three wins, the Wolverines have allowed a total of 14 points. Fourteen. In an era of spread offenses and video-game scores, Miller Grove wins the old-fashioned way, with tackling, discipline and a defense that takes points personally. That travels in November, and it gives the Wolverines a real chance in every game left on the schedule.
The closing stretch gives Miller Grove every chance to finish the right way. South Atlanta visits on Friday, October 23, then the Wolverines travel to Cedar Grove on October 30 before closing at home against Redan.
Three games, three chances to turn a season of fights into a winning finish. In Lithonia, the Wolverines and their families have every reason to believe that is exactly what happens next.
