Elle Limebear Makes History at Decca With Chart-Topping Single “Give Me Joy”

Elle Limebear has opened a new chapter for British Christian music, signing with Decca Records and releasing her new single “Give Me Joy” on July 24. The Brighton-based singer becomes Decca’s first contemporary Christian artist, joining one of the UK’s most iconic record labels with a song built from a hymn generations of British churchgoers grew up singing.

“Give Me Joy” reworks “Oil In My Lamp,” the British hymn that echoed through school assemblies and Sunday schools for decades. Limebear wrote the song with Féz Ogunseyinde, Joshua Grimmett and her father, Martin Smith, and it was produced by Joshua Fraser. Fittingly for a song about communal joy, it was recorded live at the Satellites Youth Festival at the Bath and West Showground in Shepton Mallet, capturing a field full of young voices rather than a studio polish.

“‘Give Me Joy’ came from a really simple idea: taking something that so many of us grew up singing and reworking it for a new generation,” Limebear said of the release. On joining the label, she added: “Signing with Decca is an incredible honour… one of the UK’s most iconic record labels.”

Listeners responded immediately. The single debuted at No. 1 on the Official UK Christian & Gospel Singles Chart, the first chart-topper of Limebear’s career, and went on to spend nine weeks at the top. Its reach stretched well beyond the Christian chart, landing at No. 2 on the UK iTunes All-Genres songs chart and No. 6 on the UK Singles Download Chart.

With a press biography already crediting her with more than 150 million streams, Limebear’s Decca debut signals something larger than one hit single. A major label has put its weight behind British contemporary Christian music, and the song carrying that flag is a hymn the whole country already knows by heart.

Jordan St. Cyr Delivers Two New Singles, “The Storyteller Man” and “Wild Love”

Manitoba singer-songwriter Jordan St. Cyr gave listeners a double portion on May 1, releasing two new singles through BEC Recordings: “The Storyteller Man” and “Wild Love.” Both tracks were produced by Paul Mabury, and together they frame the two sides of St. Cyr’s songwriting, the storyteller and the worshipper, in a single release day.

“The Storyteller Man,” written by St. Cyr with Paul Duncan and Paul Mabury, points to the greatest story ever told and the one who told it best. “There ain’t no better storyteller man than Jesus,” St. Cyr says of the song’s heart, a line that sums up his approach to writing: plainspoken, narrative and anchored in the character of Christ. Its companion, “Wild Love,” written with AJ Pruis and Jonathan Gamble, chases the other direction, celebrating a grace that pursues people wherever they run. As St. Cyr puts it, “No one can outrun the love of God.”

The double release kept a busy 2026 rolling for the Juno Award-winning artist. St. Cyr, who won the Juno for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year in 2023, followed the May singles with “Pray For You” on July 24, with further songs “Every Reason To Believe” and “Hands To The Sky” also arriving through the year.

From his Manitoba base, St. Cyr has become one of Canadian Christian music’s most consistent voices, writing songs that work as well in a small-town church as on national radio. “The Storyteller Man” and “Wild Love” continue that run, two more chapters from a songwriter who knows exactly whose story he is telling.
