Julia Thomsen Releases New Song “Amour”
Honestly, I wasn’t prepared for how much “Amour” by Julia Thomsen would play with my head. I put it on last night, and by the end I was just standing there completely lost in what Julia had created.
The beginning fooled me. The first piano notes sounded almost hesitant, like someone testing the waters before jumping in. Then something shifted, and suddenly I realized this wasn’t background music anymore.
Julia does this thing where she lets silence hang and it creates a tension that makes you hold your breath. When the strings finally enter, it’s like that moment when you’ve been holding back tears and finally let them fall.
I keep thinking about how she builds the piece. Most composers would have rushed to the big orchestral moments, but Julia takes her sweet time. She trusts that you’ll stick around for the journey and it works.
