Lisa Ramey Shares New EP ‘Foretaste’

Published

on

Vocal powerhouse Lisa Ramey, who finished a great run on The Voice in the USA in 2019 and released a few singles this past year, including ‘Vagabond’ and ‘Internet’, possesses a level of craft expertise that is becoming routine. She will make her comeback with the release of her brand-new EP, Foretaste, across all streaming platforms, slated for release on March 8, 2024.

Lisa Ramey has a vast repertoire of music featuring productions with elements of R&B, rock, reggae, and gospel. Her discography reflects her creative and boundless mindset, as she moves between genres with unparalleled ease and adaptability.

Foretaste, echoes a genre-blend of pop, soul, pop-rock, R&B, and funk. Throughout the EP’s six tracks, Lisa Ramey inspires with her demonstrations of vulnerability, self-empowerment, and letting go of emotional baggage.

‘Better Than That’, the focus track, merges genres of pop, soul, and R&B. The anthemic tune is a special offering from Lisa Ramey. She needed to write something about how friendships, relationships, and the earth should be better than it is. She declares, “There’s a lack of respect and a lack of love and it breaks my heart.” The track features anthemic drums, gentle piano riffs, passionate piano, bass, drums, computer production, and heartfelt vocals on the production.

‘Vagabond’ is a pulse-pounding track that displays a sound feast as she continues to push limits while effortlessly engulfing listeners in a flurry of full-bodied, rich tones – a result that will appeal to any experienced music lover.

While she and her producer were experimenting with a laid-back vibe for ‘Internet’, Lisa Ramey says that this particular release has a feel-good energy that they wanted to explore, in contrast to her earlier upbeat releases.

‘Hopeless’ masterfully conveys the sense of helplessness we all experience when we realise something isn’t working well, yet the toughest thing to do is take the necessary action. The confident ballad bids adieu to toxic relationships. A catchy, joyful R&B flavouring that captivates us with its tragic and intimate examination of attempting to hold onto a relationship that’s barely hanging on is backed by a laid-back funk beat and shimmering guitars.

‘My Creator’, a pop-rock-tinged tune, showcases Lisa Ramey’s deep love for rock n’ roll while also reflecting on her development and self-empowerment. Exploration for the gifted artist with its joyful toplines and lionhearted creation.

‘Body’ closes the EP out with the essence of embracing the power of the word ‘no’ while maintaining the personal, unapologetic freedom to be sassy and playful. The high-energy track is powerful with plenty of guitar licks. “My body is my temple. This is the perfect summer jam to have some fun without feeling like we gotta go all the way”.

To develop and perform music the way she hears it on, Foretaste, Lisa Ramey stepped far outside her comfort zone. For the first time in her career, she is in charge of her entire team rather than receiving orders on what to do and how to feel. “I love these records. I never knew how much fun writing music could be until I was able to write exactly what I wanted without borders.”

On the EP, Lisa Ramey comments, “‘Foretaste’ is a sample of what’s to come! I’ll be releasing a full-length album and wanted to give my listeners a taste of what’s to come. ‘Better Than That’ is a surprise for my listeners that completes the EP.”

Foretaste, showcases Lisa Ramey’s musical prowess and highlights both her natural talent and personal development in the music industry. Foretaste, allowed her to discover who she is as an artist without any boundaries. She is completely comfortable with who she is and what she writes. She can be her authentic self without answering to anyone as she is finally running her career. “This is how I hear music and I can’t wait to continue creating for myself and my fans”. Her most recent release showcases her artistry and fits in with her complete musical career thus far.

While more of a behind-the-scenes player DJ Design’s (aka Keith Griego) work has had a sizable imprint on the history of modern hip-hop. As a DJ/Beatmaker and visual artist he has contributed production and art since the late 90’s for notables including The Beastie Boys, Madlib, A.G., Foreign Legion, Rasco, Peanut Butter Wolf and Phat Kat

As a visual artist, his high point of work with the label was his design of the 12” vinyl cover for Lootpack member Madlib’s side project Quasimoto. The cover for “Microphone Mathematics” featured Design/Griego’s visual representation of Lord Quas as a sort of alien aardvark, which was adopted by the artist and has since become one of the most iconic and enduring

characters in the game today.
