Plant City’s Road Warriors Are Perfect Away From Home
Most teams are happy to steal a couple of wins on the road. The Plant City Raiders have made other people’s stadiums feel like home — a perfect 5-0 away from home this season, and counting.
Plant City improved to 6-2 on Friday, October 16, with a 41-0 shutout of Strawberry Crest — the Raiders’ third straight victory and their most complete performance of the year. The win kept Plant City second in the Class 6A District 10 standings at 2-1, with a defense that has allowed just 98 points all season.
Look at how this team has traveled. The Raiders opened the season with a 27-25 win at Fletcher, went to Riverview and won 37-7, shut out Wiregrass Ranch 19-0 on the road, won a 10-6 defensive fight at Gaither, and handled Newsome 28-6 away from home. Five road trips, five wins, and only one of them was ever really in doubt.
Plant City’s only two losses tell you plenty about the company the Raiders keep: a defeat against Armwood, the state top-ten powerhouse, and a 19-14 district loss to Lennard, the one team sitting above them in the standings. Against everybody else, the Raiders have simply been the tougher, more disciplined team for four quarters.
The points tell the story of a team built the right way — 176 scored, 98 allowed, and a three-game winning streak built on defense and ball control rather than shootouts.
The Raiders close the regular season at home against Durant on October 23 and Parrish Community on October 30, and a playoff berth is well within reach. When November comes, Plant City will not fear a road trip anywhere in Florida. The Raiders have been winning in other teams’ stadiums all season long — why would the playoffs be any different?

Miller Grove Wolverines Hunting a Strong Finish After a Season of Fights
The Miller Grove Wolverines opened their season with a statement, and they have been fighting ever since. A 31-0 shutout of Chamblee in the opener showed what this Lithonia team can be, and the Wolverines have spent the fall proving that night was no fluke.
Miller Grove owns a 35-6 road win at McNair and a 20-8 win at Carver in Atlanta, victories built on defense and toughness. Look at those three wins together and a pattern emerges: Chamblee scored zero, McNair scored six and Carver scored eight. When the Wolverines win, they win with a defense that gives up almost nothing, and that identity travels anywhere. At 3-4, with 131 points scored and 135 allowed, nearly every Wolverines game this season has been a genuine fight, decided by which team made the plays late.
That includes the tough nights. The Wolverines fell 42-10 to a strong Columbia team on October 16 and dropped a 28-21 heartbreaker at M.L. King in an all-DeKalb battle earlier this season. Those are the kinds of games a program learns from.
That defensive identity is worth repeating, because it is rare: across their three wins, the Wolverines have allowed a total of 14 points. Fourteen. In an era of spread offenses and video-game scores, Miller Grove wins the old-fashioned way, with tackling, discipline and a defense that takes points personally. That travels in November, and it gives the Wolverines a real chance in every game left on the schedule.
The closing stretch gives Miller Grove every chance to finish the right way. South Atlanta visits on Friday, October 23, then the Wolverines travel to Cedar Grove on October 30 before closing at home against Redan.
Three games, three chances to turn a season of fights into a winning finish. In Lithonia, the Wolverines and their families have every reason to believe that is exactly what happens next.
