Tampa Bay Rays players celebrate Ben Williamson's walk-off single in the 12th inning of World Series Game 4 on Oct. 27, 2026 in St. Petersburg

Pinch hitter Ben Williamson delivered a walk-off single in the 12th inning as the Tampa Bay Rays staved off elimination with a 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night in Game 4 of the World Series at Tropicana Field.

The Brewers, who squandered a 12th-inning lead three outs from their first championship, still lead the best-of-seven series 3-1. Game 5 is set for Wednesday night in St. Petersburg.

After rookie Cooper Pratt capped his four-hit performance with a homer leading off the top of the 12th, giving Milwaukee a 3-2 lead, Tampa Bay saved its season in the bottom of the inning. Junior Caminero reached on a throwing error by third baseman Joey Ortiz to open the inning and chase Antonio Senzatela. Shane Drohan (0-1) relieved and allowed a single to Liam Hicks that put runners on the corners, and Jonny DeLuca’s single up the middle plated pinch runner Cedric Mullins to tie the game 3-3. Chandler Simpson’s single loaded the bases before Williamson bounced a single into right field, scoring pinch runner Nick Fortes to end the game. Drohan permitted one run on four hits without retiring a batter.

Pratt, who also had an RBI double in the fourth inning, deposited a 2-2 sweeper from Ian Seymour (2-0) over the wall in left-center field in the top of the 12th. Seymour allowed one run on two hits in one inning of relief.

Milwaukee’s Jackson Chourio recorded two hits, boosting his total to 10 hits in the first four games of a World Series. The only other player to accomplish that feat was Babe Ruth in 1928.

Simpson ripped an RBI double in the second inning to open the scoring and made a leaping catch at the wall in the ninth for the Rays. Pratt’s fourth-inning double scored Sal Frelick to tie the game 1-1, Tampa Bay retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth when a throwing error by David Hamilton allowed Caminero to score, and Hamilton atoned in the fifth by homering off Griffin Jax to tie the game 2-2, where it stayed until the 12th.

Brewers Rout Rays 10-1 in Game 3 to Move Within One Win of First World Series Title

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff celebrates the Game 3 win with catcher Gary Sanchez at Tropicana Field on Oct. 26, 2026

Jackson Chourio set the tone at the plate, Brice Turang sparked a historic offensive outburst and Robert Gasser shut the door on the mound as the Milwaukee Brewers routed the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 on Monday night in Game 3 of the World Series at Tropicana Field.

The Brewers lead the series 3-0 and are one victory from the first World Series championship in franchise history. Game 4 is Tuesday night in St. Petersburg.

Gasser, a rookie left-hander, pitched one-hit ball and faced the minimum 18 batters through six innings, aided by a caught stealing and a double play. He became the first starter to face the minimum through six innings of a World Series game since Arizona’s Curt Schilling in 2001, and the first left-hander to do it since Sandy Koufax in 1965. Gasser allowed a leadoff single to Yandy Diaz in the first inning, then retired 14 straight batters. He has allowed one run in 15 innings over three postseason starts, all on the road.

Milwaukee took a 2-0 lead in the third inning against former Brewer Freddy Peralta on Christian Yelich’s bloop RBI single and William Contreras’ RBI single, then broke the game open in the fifth. Chourio bookended an eight-run fifth inning with two of his four hits, and Turang’s two-run single off reliever Cam Booser opened the scoring in a rally in which all eight runs scored with two outs — a World Series record — and seven consecutive Brewers hit safely, a postseason record. Garrett Mitchell added an RBI single, Cooper Pratt hit a two-run double and Sal Frelick lined an RBI double before David Hamilton and Chourio drove in the inning’s final runs.

Chourio finished 4 for 5 with a double, a stolen base and two runs scored, and has eight hits in three World Series games. Turang and Contreras each went 3 for 5 as Milwaukee piled up 16 hits to win its eighth straight game, tying the record for a single postseason. Peralta, the MVP of the ALCS, was charged with five runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings against his former team.

“He was tremendous. Locked in. Gives us a big lift,” Brewers manager Pat Murphy said of Chourio.

Brandon Woodruff pitched the ninth inning for Milwaukee in his first appearance in three and a half months, allowing Tampa Bay’s only run on Yandy Diaz’s RBI double. The Rays, who managed just three hits, have also never won a World Series in 29 seasons.

Of the 25 previous teams to take a 3-0 lead in the World Series, 21 went on to sweep and none lost the series. Griffin Jax is scheduled to start Game 4 for Tampa Bay.

“It’s kind of that chip and a chair mentality,” Rays manager Kevin Cash said. “We’ve got a seat at the table. We’ve got to do something with the chip. Obviously the only thing we can do is win tomorrow.”
