Siren Call Reveals New Single ‘Hello Stranger’

Published

on

There is a particular melancholy to ‘Hello Stranger’ that feels perfectly suited to Siren Call’s alternative rock aesthetic. The Vienna-based trio have fashioned a track that inhabits the space between grunge’s rawness and classic pop-rock’s melodic discipline, producing something reflective without ever becoming subdued.

The arrangement is one of the song’s greatest strengths. Bass and drums establish a steady, purposeful pulse while the guitars widen the sonic field, giving the track an expansive quality. Above it all, Yvonne Lace’s vocals carry an affecting combination of fragility and conviction. The melodies are memorable, but they retain enough shadow to prevent the song from slipping into easy sentimentality.

The emotional premise is equally well judged. ‘Hello Stranger’ considers the strange experience of losing not only a relationship, but the sense of knowing another person. Its meditation on memory and idealisation gives the song a bittersweet complexity. There is heartbreak here, certainly, but also the beginnings of perspective.

Siren Call’s musical lineage is evident in the song’s melodic instincts, with traces of The Pretenders and Fleetwood Mac meeting the tougher vocabulary of 1990s alternative rock. Crucially, however, the trio use those references as foundations rather than formulas. Jason de Cordoba and Gábor Szabó bring a dynamic instrumental chemistry that gives the composition genuine momentum.

After a period of international activity and their recent Danny Saber remix project, ‘Hello Stranger’ feels like another step towards defining what Siren Call can become. It is atmospheric, emotionally literate and immediately accessible, with enough depth to reward repeated listening.

Naomi Aguilera casts her spell with her new single BB ILY

Two years ago, Naomi Aguilera walked onto my radar with EGO, an infectious soulful pop debut that made it impossible not to move. Fast forward to her debut EP Mosaïques, and it was clear she wasn’t just passing through. Personal, colorful, rooted in her Spanish heritage & Brussels upbringing, it even earned her a spot as Apple Music Benelux’s Up Next artist!

Now she’s back with BB ILY, marking the start of a new era. The bilingual single — French and English — is built around one of the most universal human experiences: that special connection that doesn’t need translation. Where EGO invited you to forget your ex on the dancefloor, BB ILY pulls you somewhere more intimate: with sultry beats courtesy of Turana, it’s a dance where gestures, whispers, sighs and the sound of a voice matters more than the words that come out of it… It’s sensual, a little mystical, and entirely her own.

First taste of Naomi Aguilera’s upcoming project Ojalá, due in 2027, it feels effortlessly catchy. This is the kind of track that casts its spell quietly, with interesting and unexpected rhythmic shifts in the verses, and a delicious chorus that lodges itself in your head before you even notice. By the time you do, it’s too late. But you won’t find me complaining about it!
