The Color Return With “Heartbeat EP,” Five Songs of Hope From Manitoba
Manitoba band The Color released their “Heartbeat EP” in the first week of June 2026, a five-song collection that takes its name from the song that started the project. The EP gathers “Found A Love,” “Come Home,” “Heavenly Hope,” “Speechless” and “Higher,” and arrived in NewReleaseToday’s new-release listings for the week of Friday, June 5.
The title track “Heartbeat” was first released as a single in 2025, and the EP builds a full project around its pulse: songs about the nearness of God, the welcome home for the wanderer and a hope fixed on heaven. The band, whose members include Jordan Janzen and James Shiels, has long specialised in this territory, pairing festival-sized choruses with lyrics written for the local church.
Few Canadian acts carry a trophy shelf like The Color’s. The band are two-time Juno Award winners for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year, winning with “First Day of My Life” in 2018 and “No Greater Love” in 2022, and they were named GMA Covenant Group of the Year three years running, in 2017, 2018 and 2019. The songwriting at the band’s core keeps earning recognition too: “Call Of The Wild,” written by Janzen and Shiels with Carter Frodge and Taylor Agan, appeared among the Pop Song of the Year nominees on GMA Canada’s 42nd Covenant Awards list.
An EP from a band with that history is never just a stopgap. “Heartbeat EP” is a concise statement of what has made The Color one of Canada’s most decorated Christian acts: melody-forward worship pop with its heart, as the title insists, still beating strong.

Vancouver’s The Slower I Go Invite the Church Into “Holy Sanctuary”
Vancouver worship outfit The Slower I Go released their single “Holy Sanctuary” on March 20 through NRT Music, a song built less like a performance and more like a prayer meeting caught on record. Credited to The Slower I Go alongside Noah Priebe and Brooklyn Summer, the single was written by Logan Murph, Brooklyn Summer and Noah Priebe.
The song’s heartbeat is a simple, repeated cry: “Come through, come through, come through.” Rather than building toward a single big moment, “Holy Sanctuary” circles that refrain the way a congregation circles a prayer, letting repetition do the work of surrender. It is worship written for the room as much as for the listener, an invitation to slow down, as the band’s name suggests, and make space for God to move.
The Slower I Go is a four-piece made up of Noah Priebe, Brooklyn Summer, Dacey Lane and Logan York, and “Holy Sanctuary” has not been their only word in 2026. The year has also brought the singles “All Eyes On You” and “Rejoice,” and the group followed “Holy Sanctuary” with “SHOCK!,” a collaboration with Zane Walls that landed in NewReleaseToday’s new releases for the week of June 5, showing a band comfortable moving between intimate worship and bolder, pop-leaning territory.
Canada’s worship scene has always been at its strongest when its songs are born in local rooms, and The Slower I Go sound like exactly that: a Vancouver band writing from the middle of a praying community. “Holy Sanctuary” is their open door, and the invitation could not be simpler. Come through.
