Dani Shapiro’s ‘Family Secrets’ Joins Lemonada Media as the Hit Storytelling Podcast Returns
Every family has a secret. Dani Shapiro has built a beloved podcast out of what happens when they finally come out. On October 8, Lemonada Media announced a new partnership with the New York Times bestselling author to oversee ad sales and distribution for “Family Secrets,” which returned the same day with all-new episodes.
Shapiro launched the podcast in 2019, following the release of her memoir “Inheritance,” in which she wrote about discovering a life-altering secret her own parents had kept from her. The show has since built a loyal following and millions of downloads each year, with weekly conversations in which Shapiro sits down with guests to explore astonishing family secrets — and the extraordinary lessons the truth can teach.
“I could not be more excited to partner with Lemonada,” Shapiro said. “I have admired the work they’ve put into the world since day one, and it feels fortuitous that Family Secrets is joining their fantastic slate of shows. I’ve made it my life’s work to make meaning, and even beauty and joy, out of the chaos that life sometimes hands us. I can’t wait for this new chapter of Family Secrets.”
Lemonada CEO Stephanie Wittels Wachs said the show embodies what the network looks for. “Dani is an incredibly gifted storyteller, and I’ve been a long-time fan of Family Secrets,” she said. “The show does what all great podcasts do: it makes people feel less alone in the hardest, messiest parts of their lives — something we’re always looking for in the shows we bring to Lemonada. We’re thrilled Dani has brought this beautiful show to us.”

Billy Porter Opens a Faith-and-Identity Conversation Series as First Guest of ‘This Is Our Story’
A new monthly conversation series is making room for the stories people are rarely asked to tell in full. “This Is Our Story,” hosted by Seth Pinnock — founder of the UK charity Symphony Co. — launched October 20 from Symphony Co. and In Details Studios, exploring culture, faith, sexuality, identity and the life-shaping stories in between.
The inaugural guest sets the tone: Billy Porter, the Emmy, Grammy and three-time Tony Award winner, sits down with Pinnock for an open conversation about growing up in the Pentecostal church, enduring bullying, and the long road through faith, healing and forgiveness.
Porter’s reflections anchor the episode. “Forgiveness is for me,” he says in the conversation. “It’s not forgive and forget. It’s forgive and move forward.” It is the kind of unguarded exchange the series is built to hold — personal history examined without spectacle, by a host whose own work through Symphony Co. centers community and young people’s stories.
As a monthly series, “This Is Our Story” is positioned as a slow conversation in a fast medium: one guest, one story, and the space to tell it properly. With Porter as its first voice, it opens with a story that moves from the church pews of Pittsburgh to the highest stages in entertainment — and finds healing, not bitterness, at the center of it.
That is precisely the ground Pinnock wants the series to hold. The conversations are structured around the moments that shape a life rather than the highlights that sell one, and Porter’s episode — part testimony, part masterclass in survival — gives the young series an unmistakable statement of intent from its very first installment.
