Some Atlanta traditions need no explaining. Blackberry Smoke coming home on Thanksgiving weekend is one of them. The Georgia band’s annual Holiday Homecoming lands at the Tabernacle on Friday, November 27, in the middle of their 25th anniversary year, and it is as close to a family reunion as a rock show gets.

Blackberry Smoke plays the Tabernacle on Friday, November 27, for the Holiday Homecoming, part of the band’s 25th Anniversary Tour marking a quarter century since the group formed in 2001.

The Homecoming has become one of the signature nights on the Atlanta concert calendar. Fans travel in for it, the set list stretches deep into the catalog, and the band plays like a group with nothing left to prove and everything left to give.

Twenty five years in, Blackberry Smoke remains the standard bearer of Southern rock, a band that built its following the slow way, one room and one road year at a time, without ever sanding down the edges.

The Tabernacle, at 152 Luckie St NW in downtown Atlanta, is their home room in every sense. The old church turned concert hall has hosted this tradition before, and its balconies and wooden floors suit a band that has always sounded best live.
