Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Launches October 23 as the Series Finale, Skipping Game Pass Until Holiday 2027
Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches worldwide on October 23 as a standalone purchase for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, and it will not join Xbox Game Pass until Holiday 2027. The October 15 announcement makes the game the first Call of Duty to launch day one on a Nintendo console in the Switch 2 era, while the series steps away from PlayStation 4 and Xbox One entirely. The move follows the policy Microsoft set out in April, when it confirmed future Call of Duty titles would no longer arrive on Game Pass at launch.
Players who pre-ordered digitally stepped in early, with campaign early access opening October 16 and DMZ early access following ahead of the full launch. Activision is framing Modern Warfare 4 as the epic conclusion of the rebooted Modern Warfare storyline, and its marketing leadership told reporters on October 15 that the game was refocused toward a grounded military tone in response to feedback on Black Ops 7. The company also confirmed it has laid the groundwork for an entirely new Call of Duty sub-franchise to follow in 2027.
The campaign picks up after the assassination of General Shepherd in Modern Warfare III. Task Force 141 has been disbanded, Captain Price is on the run, and Ghost and Gaz are tasked with capturing or killing their former captain. In parallel, conflict erupts on the Korean Peninsula as a catastrophic weapon of war moves toward a dangerous enemy known only as The Archer.
At launch, multiplayer includes series staples such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint and Search & Destroy alongside new modes Hijack, Infiltration and Collateral. The post-launch roadmap moves quickly: the Shipment map arrives October 28, Possession mode on October 30, Infected on October 31, and Season 1 for Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone begins November 7.

NBA 2K27 and Football Manager 27 Join Apple Arcade in November
Apple Arcade’s sports lineup keeps growing. Apple has announced that NBA 2K27 and Football Manager 27 will both join the subscription service in November, adding the world’s biggest basketball game and its most respected football management series to a catalogue that has quietly become a strong home for sports fans.
NBA 2K27’s Arcade edition brings the full 2K basketball experience to iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV, and this year’s edition includes WNBA teams, continuing the push to put the women’s game front and center in the series. The timing could hardly be better for 2K: NBA 2K27 launched in September and has already become the best-selling game of 2026 in the United States, according to Circana sales data.
Football Manager 27’s arrival follows the pattern set last year, when Football Manager 26 Touch launched on Apple Arcade on November 4, 2025. The Touch edition streamlines Sports Interactive’s famously deep management simulation for quicker sessions while keeping the transfer market, tactics and career progression that have made the series a fixture for football fans worldwide.
The two newcomers join a sports section that has filled out considerably this year. Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition arrived in August, and the service also carries NFL Retro Bowl ’27, the officially licensed pixel-art football game, PGA TOUR Pro Golf for golf fans, and Retro Bowl College+, the college football spin-off of the Retro Bowl series.
Apple Arcade is priced at $8.99 per month in Canada and can be shared with up to five family members, and it is bundled into every Apple One plan. For sports gamers, the pitch is simple: a rotating library of premium annual sports titles with no additional purchases, playable across Apple devices.
