Energy Whores make invisibility four times as loud with “Invisible”

What happens when you take one song about feeling unseen and let it exist in four completely different worlds?

Well, Energy Whores just found out.

The genre-defying electronic project led by New York songwriter, vocalist and producer Carrie Schoenfeld has released “Invisible (Four Ways)”, an ambitious reimagining of the same composition across Synth-Pop, Lo-Fi, Cinematic and Indie interpretations.

And no, these aren’t just your standard remixes.

They’re four different emotional universes.

At the heart of “Invisible” is something almost everyone understands — that strange feeling of being right there in the room, right there in the world, and somehow still not being seen.

Overlooked.

Disconnected.

Transparent.

Energy Whores puts it perfectly:

“Invisible is about what it feels like to be standing right there and still not be seen — to become transparent to the people and the world around you.”

But here’s where things get interesting.

Instead of choosing one definitive version of the song, Schoenfeld asked a much more intriguing question:

What if the same story could feel completely different depending on how you hear it?

And so, “Invisible” became four songs in one.

The polished rush of the Synth-Pop version brings immediacy and momentum. The Lo-Fi version pulls everything inward, surrounding the lyrics with intimacy and haze. Then comes the sweeping drama of the Cinematic version, before the Indie version strips things back toward something more organic and raw.

Same lyrics.

Same melodic DNA.

Completely different emotional worlds.

Working alongside Grant (NYC), who produced, mixed and mastered the project, Schoenfeld reshaped synthesizers, piano, keyboards, electric guitar, bass, electronic drums, percussion, programmed elements, atmospheric textures and vocals across each interpretation.

Because sometimes the music around a story changes the story itself.

And that spirit of experimentation is nothing new for Energy Whores.

The project has carved out a space somewhere between synth-pop, art rock, electronic experimentation and politically charged alternative music, tackling everything from war and authoritarianism to climate collapse, consumer culture and technological alienation.

Basically, if the modern world is getting weird, Energy Whores has something to say about it.

And Carrie Schoenfeld brings a visual imagination to the project that matches its musical ambition. A classically trained pianist who studied at Mannes as a child, she later moved into visual art and independent film before returning to songwriting and production. Today, she creates and directs the project’s music videos and visual concepts, treating the visual world as an essential part of the music rather than simply something that accompanies it.

Following the 2026 album Arsenal of Democracy, along with releases including “Fade to Gray” and “Planet B”, “Invisible (Four Ways)” feels like another bold step into the unknown.

With touchstones ranging from Massive Attack and Portishead to Björk, St. Vincent, Depeche Mode and Radiohead, Energy Whores continues to blur the lines between electronic music, alternative songwriting and experimental pop.

Four versions.

One song.

One feeling that almost all of us know.

Because maybe being invisible doesn’t always look the same.

Maybe it sounds different depending on where you’re standing.

And maybe sometimes, the best way to be seen…

is to make some noise. 🖤
