Legendary Actor Barry Bostwick Guests On Harvey Brownstone Interviews

Barry Bostwick is a legendary actor who has brought us dozens of unforgettable performances in a career spanning over 5 decades.

On Broadway, Barry Bostwick originated the role of “Danny Zuko” in “Grease”, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. He got another Tony Award nomination for his performance in “They Knew What They Wanted”, and he WON a Tony Award and got a Drama Desk Award nomination for his performance in “The Robber Bridegroom”. He also appeared on Broadway in “Cock-a-Doodle Dandy”, “Hamlet”, “Soon” and “Nick & Nora”, and he starred in the national tour of “The Pirates of Penzance”.

On the big screen, while it is certainly true that Barry Bostwick will forever be immortalized as Susan Sarandon’s straight-laced, all-American boyfriend “Brad” in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”, there can be no question that his talent, versatility and diverse body of work extend FAR beyond that one phenomenally successful cult classic movie. His many other movie credits include “Megaforce”, “Weekend at Bernie’s 2”, “Project: Metalbeast”, “Spy Hard”, “Evening”, “Holiday Baggage”, “Bedrooms”, “Finding Joy”, “The Field”, and of course, “Movie Movie”, for which he was nominated for a National Society of Film Critics Award and a New York Film Critics Circle Award.

On television, we all remember Barry Bostwick as the childish, vain and outrageously inept mayor “Randall Winston” in the classic TV sitcom, “Spin City”. He’s also appeared in many other iconic TV shows like “Charlie’s Angels”, “Hawaii Five-O”, “Foul Play”, “Scrubs”, “Ugly Betty”, “Ghost Whisperer”, “Nip Tuck”, “Glee”, “Hot in Cleveland”, and he’s had recurring roles in numerous shows like “Law & Order: SVU”, “Cougar Town”, “Research”, “Inside the Extras Studio”, “Still the King”, “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce” and “The Potwins”.

He’s also starred in dozens of great TV movies and miniseries including “The Quinns”, “You Can’t Take it With You”, “Scruples”, “Red Flag: The Ultimate Game”, “George Washington”, “A Woman of Substance”, “Till We Meet Again”, “The Last U-Boat”, “Depth Charge”, “A Christmas Miracle”, and last but certainly not least, the multi-award winning miniseries “War and Remembrance”, for which he won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a historic TIE with his co-star Sir John Gielgud.

Harvey Brownstone is a retired judge of the Ontario Court of Justice and was the first openly gay judge in Canada. He is also the bestselling author of “Tug of War: A Judge’s Verdict on Separation, Custody Battles and the Bitter Realities of Family Court” and hosted “Family Matters with Justice Harvey Brownstone,” a television talk show on matters involving the family justice system.

After a distinguished legal career, Harvey was appointed a judge at the age of 38 in 1995.  He has presided in family and criminal courts.   He has been a trailblazer in several ways.  He was the first openly gay judge in Canada.  He was the first sitting judge in the world to write a national best seller and to host a TV talk show.

Harvey has been a role model and icon in the LGBTQ community.  When same-sex marriage was legalized in Canada in 2003, he was the only judge to make himself publicly available to officiate at weddings for lesbian and gay couples travelling to Toronto from all over the world to get married.  In 2007, he officiated at the wedding of Edith Windsor and Thea Spyer, the American couple whose marriage triggered the 2013 United States Supreme Court decision overturning the definition of “spouse” in the federal Defense of Marriage Act.

In February 2021, Harvey launched his online talk show “Harvey Brownstone Interviews” on his own YouTube channel. He saw this as an interesting hobby.   Within several months, the show attracted hundreds of thousands – and then eventually, millions – of viewers.  Because of the overwhelming success of the show, Harvey decided to retire from the judiciary on December 31, 2021 after having presided as a full-time judge for 26 1/2 years.  Free from the constraints imposed upon judges regarding the expression of opinions and the endorsement of private enterprise, Harvey now happily devotes his full-time attention to hosting “Harvey Brownstone Interviews” as a regular member of the public – albeit one with a rather illustrious and unique career history.

Bay Area beatmaker/visual artist DJ Design returns with new single “I Wanna Be Free” (Below System Records).  Washes of synth collide with a dense horn arrangement and snappin’ drums.  West-Coast emcee Gennessee guests on the track spitting a lyrical dissertation on the woes of a police state, racial profiling and surveillance.

While more of a behind-the-scenes player DJ Design’s (aka Keith Griego) work has had a sizable imprint on the history of modern hip-hop. As a DJ/Beatmaker and visual artist he has contributed production and art since the late 90’s for notables including The Beastie Boys, Madlib, A.G., Foreign Legion, Rasco, Peanut Butter Wolf and Phat Kat

As a visual artist, his high point of work with the label was his design of the 12” vinyl cover for Lootpack member Madlib’s side project Quasimoto. The cover for “Microphone Mathematics” featured Design/Griego’s visual representation of Lord Quas as a sort of alien aardvark, which was adopted by the artist and has since become one of the most iconic and enduring

characters in the game today.
