Max Parker Embraces Confidence and Reinvention on New Single “Retro”
Toronto-based singer-songwriter, producer, and performer Max Parker enters a new musical chapter with “RETRO,” a rebellious, guitar-driven single exploring confidence, identity, and the freedom to break away from other people’s expectations. Self-produced by Parker, the track introduces a deeper, edgier sound that combines heavier guitars, synths, and experimental production with the strong melodies that have defined his music.
Originally conceived on acoustic guitar from the perspective of a fictional villain, “RETRO” quickly developed an assertive, almost mischievous energy. As Parker continued writing, the concept evolved into something more personal, exploring self-discovery, reinvention, and the courage to embrace different sides of oneself.
“I want listeners to turn it up, move to it, and feel empowered to embrace parts of themselves they might normally hold back,” Parker says.
The single also represents an important milestone in Parker’s artistic development. Taking greater control of his creative direction, he self-produced the track and earned his first executive producer credit. The result reflects his evolving approach to music, blending electronic textures with live instrumentation to create a sound that feels both familiar and adventurous.
A First Look at a Bigger Story
“RETRO” serves as the introduction to Parker’s forthcoming concept album, planned for release in 2027. The project follows a character named Maximus, an alter ego created to explore the transition from boyhood to adulthood, touching on identity, independence, and personal growth.
Loosely inspired by Where the Wild Things Are, the album uses storytelling to examine the different sides of the self. Within its narrative, “RETRO” captures Maximus at the height of his confidence, when self-assurance begins to tip into overconfidence. Its rebellious, villain-like energy introduces the character while setting the stage for the larger story to unfold.
Through this concept, Parker aims to create a project that connects with listeners through recognizable emotions and experiences, encouraging them to reflect on their own journeys of transformation.
An Artist Expanding His Creative Vision
With more than two million cumulative streams across Spotify and Apple Music, Max Parker has built a growing audience through his blend of anthemic pop-rock, soulful intimacy, and contemporary production. His songwriting explores identity, nostalgia, ambition, and personal transformation.
His single “Good Time” earned a Top 10 placement on Mainstream AC Radio, became the most-added track across all formats, and was the highest-charting fully independent release on the AC Radio charts. His debut album, 17, featured production contributions from acclaimed collaborators John Nathaniel (OneRepublic), Derek Hoffman (Arkells), and Connor Seidel (Charlotte Cardin).
Parker’s creative work also extends to acting. He most recently appeared as Benvolio in the feature film Juliet & Romeo, alongside Rebel Wilson, Jason Isaacs, Rupert Everett, and Rupert Graves.

Pauline Frechette Releases “The Wonder of Stars” Featuring Legendary Bassist Stanley Clarke
Billboard-charting composer, pianist, and vocalist Pauline Frechette releases her new single, “The Wonder of Stars,” featuring legendary bassist Stanley Clarke. Taken from her latest album, At the Edge of Everything, the song is a personal reflection on the beauty of the universe, the search for direction, and the quiet strength that comes from looking beyond everyday worries.
Living in Ojai, California, surrounded by mountains and natural beauty, Pauline finds inspiration in one of her favorite nighttime activities: stargazing with her husband. For her, looking up at the stars is more than simply admiring the night sky. It is a way to find peace, regain perspective, and reconnect with her sense of purpose.
“When I am tired or anxious about something, star gazing relaxes me. I feel strong and sure of the path I must follow,” Pauline explains. Inspired by the explorers who once relied on the stars for courage and direction, she sees the night sky as a reminder that there is always a way forward, even when life presents obstacles.
That feeling became the foundation for “The Wonder of Stars.” Pauline began composing the music while singing, allowing the lyrics to emerge naturally from the emotions and story already expressed through the melody. She considers the song one of her finest compositions.
Featuring the unmistakable musicianship of Stanley Clarke, “The Wonder of Stars” brings together Pauline’s distinctive approach to composition and performance with the artistry of one of music’s most celebrated bassists.
Pauline Frechette has built an impressive career as a composer, pianist, and vocalist. Her compositions have been performed by renowned orchestras, including the Baltimore Symphony, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, New West Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, and National Symphony at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Her work has also been presented at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Beyond the concert stage, Pauline has contributed her voice to major film scores and performed alongside some of the biggest names in music, including Paul McCartney, Beck, Cher, Willie Nelson, Neil Diamond, Muse, and Leonard Cohen.
Her current album, At the Edge of Everything, features Stanley Clarke and showcases her ability to move naturally between jazz, neo-classical instrumentals, and expressive vocal compositions. Her music has accumulated more than 30 million streams worldwide.
Through her music and performances, Pauline brings together technical excellence, emotional honesty, and a deep sense of vulnerability. With “The Wonder of Stars,” she offers listeners a reminder to pause, look beyond their immediate surroundings, and find inspiration in the world above them.
