California’s girls flag football season comes down to one Saturday, and here is the part everyone should know up front: there is no state championship after it. The CIF does not run a state title game for girls flag football in 2026. Section champions are the final champions, and nearly every section crowns them on Saturday, November 7.

The headline game is in the Southern Section, where unbeaten top seed JSerra (27-0) faces Newport Harbor in the Open Division final at Huntington Beach High School. JSerra routed Huntington Beach 34-6 in the semifinals, and Newport Harbor survived Woodbridge 26-21. The Southern Section is the biggest bracket in the state, with 204 teams across seven divisions.

In the San Diego Section, five finals share one site, Olympian High School, with the Open Division final at 6 p.m. The semifinals are Tuesday, November 3: Carlsbad, fresh off its 34-7 stunner at top seed San Marcos, plays at Torrey Pines, and Classical Academy, which upset Bonita Vista, plays at Helix.

The Sac-Joaquin Section plays its five finals at Cosumnes River College. Quarterfinals run Monday, November 2, and semifinals Wednesday, November 4. The storylines start with River Islands, still perfect at 19-0 in Division V, and Manteca, the No. 11 seed that knocked off Lodi for the first playoff win in program history.

The North Coast Section semifinals on November 4 feature the rematch of the season, Amador Valley at Castro Valley, two teams that played a 19-18 overtime classic on October 16. Defending champion San Ramon Valley is still alive after beating Redwood 33-7.

The Central Section semifinals are Tuesday, November 3, including Templeton at Bakersfield Christian. Keep an eye on Visalia Redwood, a first-year program seeded No. 1 at 17-1 that won its first playoff game 36-0 over Madera. The Central Coast Section playoffs opened Monday, November 2, with a 16-game slate led by Monta Vista (15-1), Watsonville (15-2) and Notre Dame of San Jose (19-5). The San Francisco Section finished early: Balboa beat Galileo 26-13 and Burton beat Washington 18-6 in finals played October 31.

No state final is coming. Saturday is the finish line, and across California it is stacked.

Every bracket has a draw nobody wants, and in Class 6A it belongs to James Clemens. The Jets travel to Hewitt-Trussville on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. for a first round playoff game, a road trip confirmed on Hewitt-Trussville’s official athletics schedule.

James Clemens, from Madison, won six of its 14 games and closed the regular season the right way, with a 6-0 shutout win at Columbia on Oct. 27. The Jets’ wins include a 36-6 rout of Bob Jones, a 35-0 shutout of St. John Paul II, a 31-13 win over Mae Jemison on Oct. 20 and an 18-0 shutout of Hazel Green. The losses show the gap the Jets have to close. Gadsden City beat them 36-6 on Oct. 22, and Sparkman edged them 13-6 on Oct. 13.

Hewitt-Trussville is the standard on the other sideline. The Huskies are one of the powers of the 6A bracket, and the program’s flag account still points to the inaugural state title it won in 2021, before flag became an official AHSAA championship sport.

Three of the Jets’ six wins were shutouts, so the defense has traveled before. The game is also one of eight first round matchups in the Class 6A bracket, while eight other teams, including Spain Park and Smiths Station, sit out the week on byes and wait for the winners.

For James Clemens, the math is simple. The Jets have already shown they can pitch a shutout and score in bunches against their own level. Tuesday asks them to do it in the hardest building in the bracket.
