Jayson Tatum scored a game-high 32 points as the Boston Celtics beat the Orlando Magic 108-97 on Sunday for their fifth straight victory.

Tatum was 8 of 19 from the field and made 15 of his 17 free throws, nearly matching Orlando’s team total of 15 made free throws, and added seven assists. He left late in the first quarter after bumping heads with Jamal Cain and going to the locker room with a cut, then returned in the second quarter and helped Boston take a 55-50 halftime lead. Paul George had 17 points, six rebounds and eight assists for the Celtics (5-1), Luka Garza scored 12, Derrick White had 12 and Baylor Scheierman added 10. Neemias Queta, starting in place of the resting Mitchell Robinson, added two critical blocks in the final two minutes.

Boston scored the first nine points of the second half and led 69-54 before Orlando answered with an 18-3 run capped by an Anthony Black 3-pointer that tied the game at 72 late in the third quarter. After Orlando tied it again at 79 in the fourth, an 18-6 run put the Celtics up 97-85 with 5:02 to play. The Magic closed within 97-93 on a Desmond Bane layup with 3:59 left but got no closer, and George’s 3-pointer with 1:32 remaining gave Boston an 11-point lead.

Tristan da Silva scored 23 points with 10 rebounds and Anthony Black had 23 points and eight rebounds for Orlando (2-4), which fell to 0-3 at home. Bane added 19 points and Franz Wagner had 14 points and a career-high 12 assists. The Magic played without Paolo Banchero, who missed his fourth straight game with a high ankle sprain.

The NBA suspended Atlanta Hawks guard Kingston Flemings one game without pay for intentionally elbowing New Orleans Pelicans guard Bryce McGowens in the head, the league announced on Sunday.

The incident occurred with 3:04 remaining in the fourth quarter of New Orleans’ 121-99 home win over Atlanta on Saturday. Flemings was assessed a technical foul and ejected after a review, a brief skirmish broke out, and Pelicans forward Julian Reese also received a technical foul. Flemings had scored 12 points with six assists off the bench before the ejection.

Flemings will serve the suspension on Monday when Atlanta visits the Indiana Pacers, and the one-game ban will cost him $42,234. The eighth overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft out of Houston, the rookie point guard has quickly become a key part of the Hawks’ second unit, averaging 7.1 points and 4.7 assists in seven games this season.
