The NBA suspended Atlanta Hawks guard Kingston Flemings one game without pay for intentionally elbowing New Orleans Pelicans guard Bryce McGowens in the head, the league announced on Sunday.

The incident occurred with 3:04 remaining in the fourth quarter of New Orleans’ 121-99 home win over Atlanta on Saturday. Flemings was assessed a technical foul and ejected after a review, a brief skirmish broke out, and Pelicans forward Julian Reese also received a technical foul. Flemings had scored 12 points with six assists off the bench before the ejection.

Flemings will serve the suspension on Monday when Atlanta visits the Indiana Pacers, and the one-game ban will cost him $42,234. The eighth overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft out of Houston, the rookie point guard has quickly become a key part of the Hawks’ second unit, averaging 7.1 points and 4.7 assists in seven games this season.

Michael Porter Jr. scored 23 points as the Brooklyn Nets secured their first win of the season, beating the Indiana Pacers 98-90 on Sunday in Indianapolis.

Porter also grabbed nine rebounds for Brooklyn (1-5), which had opened the season with five straight losses. Julius Randle added 20 points, five rebounds and six assists, Nolan Traore scored 16 points with six assists, Day’Ron Sharpe collected 15 points and 13 rebounds and Moritz Wagner chipped in 14 points off the bench. The Nets led the entire second half and held Indiana under 100 points.

Brooklyn led 20-19 after one quarter and took a 43-40 lead into halftime on a Porter layup that beat the buzzer. The Nets opened the second half with nine straight points, on a Porter four-point play and a Traore 3-pointer and floater, to push the lead to 52-40, and back-to-back 3-pointers by Traore and Randle plus a Noah Clowney dunk made it 68-56 in the third. Indiana cut the lead to 75-72 early in the fourth behind seven points from Andrew Nembhard, but a Randle stepback 3-pointer with 4:44 left restored a 10-point lead, and neither team made a field goal after Nembhard’s 3-pointer trimmed the margin to seven with 2:24 remaining.

Nembhard paced Indiana (2-5) with 23 points, followed by Pascal Siakam with 17 and Quenton Jackson with 12. Aaron Nesmith and Kelly Oubre Jr. had 11 apiece for the Pacers, who lost their fourth straight game and played without Tyrese Haliburton, Ivica Zubac, Obi Toppin and T.J. McConnell. The win avenged Brooklyn’s 136-109 loss to Indiana a week earlier.
