Ocean Flor “Never Let You Down” – A Bold Expression of Passion and Sound

Ocean Flor’s “Never Let You Down” is more than just an electronic track; it’s a statement. The collaboration between Ralf Schmidt (Aera) and Jesse Trinidad delivers a song that brims with energy, emotion, and originality. This track beautifully marries genres, blending sleek German electronica with UK breakbeat and infusing it with the subtle rhythms of Southern Spain. It’s a bold, exciting release that highlights the duo’s range and deep emotional connection to the music they make.
The song’s creation was a testament to the duo’s deep bond and creative synergy. What started as a fleeting melody in Ralf’s mind quickly turned into a finished track after a seamless back-and-forth between him and Jesse. From the first moments of the track, listeners are transported into the duo’s world, where long drives between Gibraltar and Málaga and late-night studio sessions are woven into the very fabric of the song. The production is pristine, with each layer adding a new dimension to the sound.
However, what truly makes “Never Let You Down” stand out is its emotional core. The vocals, recorded in a single take, carry a raw and unfiltered vulnerability that immediately captivates the listener. The line “I’ll never let you down” isn’t just a lyric—it’s a promise, one that’s anchored in real-life emotion. Ralf’s decision to record the vocals while racing to care for his sick girlfriend adds a poignant depth to the track, making it feel intimate and genuine.
From a production standpoint, the track is a marvel. The transitions between sections are smooth, and the layering of synths, beats, and guitar creates a rich and immersive soundscape. The blend of electronic elements with live instruments like the guitar provides a beautiful contrast, highlighting the duo’s ability to create a sound that’s both organic and modern.
With “Never Let You Down,” Ocean Flor has created a track that’s both a reflection of their journey and an unforgettable listening experience. It’s a bold expression of their musical identity, full of passion, creativity, and authenticity. This single is sure to captivate both long-time fans and newcomers alike.

Waz-u drops ambient gem ‘Vermillion’ ft. Lilyg

London-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Waz-u returns with his second album, Preludes: Dusk Psalms, set for release on 16 May 2025 via independent label Biodiversity. The 15-track record further refines the artistic depth of his debut, blending electronic textures and classical compositional techniques in an intricate, immersive listening experience.
Ahead of the album release, Waz-u is dropping an exclusive vocal version of ‘Vermillion: G Major’ from the album, accompanied by its original instrumental version. ‘Vermillion’ with Lilyg will be released on 18 April 2025, evoking intimate indie-folk and pop and follows the release of a vocal version of ‘Lament’ with Tom Norrington. ‘The singles are a way to give a voice to the atmosphere of the record and to lyrically encapsulate some of the themes explored,’ explains Waz-u. ‘Lily and Tom are good friends of mine and have both been listening to early iterations of these preludes – it felt right to involve them directly on this record.’
‘Preludes: Dusk Psalms’ marks a new branch of Waz-u’s emerging sound, guided by the duality of tradition and innovation. Combining his musical roots in early ‘90s dub techno and classical music, the album weaves carefully layered synthesizers and electronics to evoke the ambience of sacred music — from the gentle timbres of a choir or an organ to the quiet, open, and reverberating spaces of a church. Also featured throughout the album is experimental musician G9 LUV, who creates textures and drones by bowing his bass guitar, resulting in cello-like sounds. The release follows Waz-u’s 2024 debut LP, Prayer For Dawn, which merged dub, techno, and electronica in an exploration of the ritualistic traditions associated with both organized religion and dance.
Bringing the album’s themes to life, Waz-u will celebrate the release of Preludes: Dusk Psalms with a special performance at Our Holy Redeemer in Clerkenwell, London on 14 May 2025. Set against the church’s resonant acoustics, the event will feature live performance arrangements, including a choir, with further details to be announced soon.
