Pharaoh Jo Gets Uncomfortably Honest on “Enough For You”
This doesn’t feel like a song written in a studio. It feels like someone finally putting words to something they’ve been turning over in their head for months.
The track opens quiet, almost uncertain. Pharaoh Jo is asking questions he probably already knows the answer to. “I put my pride to the side, let my ego collapse, still you lookin’ for more, what do you see that I lack?” Most rappers would dress that up with clever wordplay. He just says it flat. That’s the whole point.
CALLMEJB comes in on the chorus and adds something I wasn’t expecting. It’s not flashy. It’s just… heartbroken in a way that makes sense. The two of them sound like they’re actually talking to each other instead of taking turns in a booth.
The whole thing is about reaching the end of your rope with someone you cared about, and having to figure out what that wreckage means. You can tell he lived through whatever this song is about. His influences go back to Cole and Kendrick and Wayne, sure, but what he’s doing here is his own thing entirely. No reaching for metaphors to make pain sound prettier. Just straight talk about what happened and what it cost.
“Enough For You” by Pharaoh Jo is out now. You can listen here.
