Dancing In Tongues Explore Fragility and Hope on New Single “Petri Dish”
Brooklyn duo Dancing In Tongues return with their new single “Petri Dish” and it lands like a quiet exhale in a loud world.
Built from soft-focus electronics, delicate rhythms, and vocals that feel almost whispered into the room, “Petri Dish” is less a traditional single and more a suspended moment. It drifts, pulses, and holds its breath in all the right places.
The track is the first glimpse of their upcoming 4-track EP of the same name, due 3rd July, and was written and produced in Berlin with Lucas Herweg (LLUCID) and Jacob Bergson (TAUT), working together as Designer.
At its core, “Petri Dish” comes from something deeply personal: the duo’s experience with IVF. Rather than framing it in heavy-handed terms, the song captures the emotional weather of it all; the waiting, the hope that arrives faster than you expect and the strange stillness that sits alongside it.
That duality runs through everything here. The production feels weightless but never empty with shimmering synths that blur at the edges, textures gently fold into one another, and the rhythm never quite settles into certainty. It moves the way thoughts do when you’re waiting for news you can’t control.
Vocally, Sarah Martin-Nuss stays close to the mic, almost conversational at times, which makes the emotional impact feel even more direct. There’s no performance of grandeur here, just presence, honesty, and space to feel things as they are.
Dancing In Tongues have always worked in that in-between zone where electronic music becomes something more tactile and personal, and “Petri Dish” is no exception.
Some songs are made for a particular moment. Others somehow refuse to stay in one era. Lionel Richie’s “All Night Long” is firmly in the latter category and now dance producer KEPA is giving the timeless party anthem a fresh lease of life with a vibrant new reimagining built for packed dancefloors and long summer nights.
Out now, “All Night Long (All Night)” takes the unmistakable spirit of Richie’s classic and drops it into a modern, UK-influenced dance setting. The result is exactly the kind of record that makes you want to stop checking the time, put your phone away and stay on the dancefloor for just one more song.
KEPA builds the track around a driving house groove, warm synth bass, piano and saxophone, while that instantly recognisable vocal hook remains at the heart of the record. Rather than trying to reinvent the feeling that made the original so iconic, he leans into it — turning its sense of celebration and togetherness into something made for a new generation of club-goers.
“I wanted to keep the original sense of joy while giving it a completely different club energy. For me, it captures that warm, carefree feeling of summer — freedom, connection, dancing, and staying in the moment for as long as you can. I wanted the record to feel like a little escape from everything happening around us.”
And that idea of escape is central to KEPA’s musical world.
Away from the studio, KEPA runs a real estate development business, but when it comes to music, he trades buildings and business meetings for basslines, piano chords and late-night energy. Drawing from UK dance culture, his sound moves between house, UK garage and melodic electronic music, always with an emphasis on big hooks and records that are designed to make people move.
It’s a combination that makes “All Night Long (All Night)” feel right at home somewhere between the radio and the club. KEPA’s influences include dance heavyweights such as Sigala, Joel Corry, Duke Dumont, MK and David Guetta, and that crossover sensibility comes through clearly here.
But there’s more to the record than simply making an old favourite danceable again. KEPA has tapped into something much simpler: the feeling of a night that you don’t want to end.
There’s a reason “all night long” remains such a universal phrase. It’s that moment when the plans go out the window, the music gets louder and suddenly nobody is thinking about what time it is. KEPA captures that feeling in a track that feels tailor-made for summer, whether that means a festival crowd, a rooftop party, a packed club or the soundtrack to a spontaneous night that somehow turns into morning.
