Sabatta turns the heat up with monstrous four-on-the-floor single ‘Rick James (Good Times)’, out now!
Sabatta is a groovy asf rock magic carpet ride powered by an Afro comb guitar and a South London accent. Fronted by quirky South-East London singer/guitarist Yinka Oyewole, Sabatta combines rock, punk, urban and all vibes!
Yinka considers himself an ‘Anomaly’, but for him, this isn’t about being different from everyone else. It’s about recognising that everyone is different in their own way. This idea sits at the heart of Sabatta’s forthcoming ‘Anomaly Part 1’, the first of two EPs celebrating individuality, idiosyncrasy and inclusiveness. At a time when sameness can feel increasingly prevalent, the project is a reminder that difference is something worth celebrating, a tradition reflected in the UK’s long history of creating singular artists and art that can resonate far beyond its borders.
‘Anomaly Part 1’ showcases the diverse web of influences behind Sabatta’s sound. While foundational icons like Queens of the Stone Age, Bad Brains, and Jimi Hendrix loom large, fans of Kid Kapichi, Fontaines D.C., and Primal Scream will find plenty to sink their teeth into. Underpinning it all is Yinka’s sharp wit and irreverence, landing his storytelling squarely in the canon of great British lyricism alongside Idles, Sleaford Mods, and Giggs.
Throughout the six tracks on the EP, a shared thread of heavy beats, untamed riffs and Yinka’s distinctive voice is evident as tracks twist and turn in different directions. It’s a wild ride that covers politics, relationships and life from the big questions to the everyday and refuses to play it safe.
The first single to come from the EP, ‘Foreign Muck’ is on one hand, Sabatta’s irreverent, quirky and quintessentially British musical take on the current conversation around immigration and race in the UK. On the other hand, it’s just a fun track with a sick groove and a dirty great guitar riff all over it!
For his next single, Sabatta is turning the heat up with ‘Rick James (Good Times)’, the fat-bass-loaded, opener from the EP. Inspired by a behind-the-scenes clip from an interview with Rick James that Yinka stumbled across online, the track takes its cue from the legendary ‘King of Punk-Funk’ reminiscing about old times with his buddy Charlie Murphy. It’s a moment that has taken on a life of its own thanks to Dave Chappelle’s now-iconic impersonations and the endless stream of internet memes that have introduced Rick James’ larger-than-life persona to a whole new generation. For Yinka, it’s the perfect collision of musical hero worship and internet-fuelled absurdity: a playful nod to an undeniable funk legend, filtered through his own distinctly offbeat sense of humour. But this is no mere novelty tribute. Driven by a monstrous bassline, an insistent four-on-the-floor groove and Sabatta’s trademark, riff-heavy swagger, ‘Rick James (Good Times)’ is as much about the sheer joy of making a racket as it is about celebrating an icon. It’s funky, filthy and unapologetically rock ’n’ roll — a reminder that Sabatta can have a laugh, pay their respects and still absolutely bring the noise.

Pauline Frechette Releases “The Wonder of Stars” Featuring Legendary Bassist Stanley Clarke
Billboard-charting composer, pianist, and vocalist Pauline Frechette releases her new single, “The Wonder of Stars,” featuring legendary bassist Stanley Clarke. Taken from her latest album, At the Edge of Everything, the song is a personal reflection on the beauty of the universe, the search for direction, and the quiet strength that comes from looking beyond everyday worries.
Living in Ojai, California, surrounded by mountains and natural beauty, Pauline finds inspiration in one of her favorite nighttime activities: stargazing with her husband. For her, looking up at the stars is more than simply admiring the night sky. It is a way to find peace, regain perspective, and reconnect with her sense of purpose.
“When I am tired or anxious about something, star gazing relaxes me. I feel strong and sure of the path I must follow,” Pauline explains. Inspired by the explorers who once relied on the stars for courage and direction, she sees the night sky as a reminder that there is always a way forward, even when life presents obstacles.
That feeling became the foundation for “The Wonder of Stars.” Pauline began composing the music while singing, allowing the lyrics to emerge naturally from the emotions and story already expressed through the melody. She considers the song one of her finest compositions.
Featuring the unmistakable musicianship of Stanley Clarke, “The Wonder of Stars” brings together Pauline’s distinctive approach to composition and performance with the artistry of one of music’s most celebrated bassists.
Pauline Frechette has built an impressive career as a composer, pianist, and vocalist. Her compositions have been performed by renowned orchestras, including the Baltimore Symphony, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, New West Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, and National Symphony at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Her work has also been presented at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Beyond the concert stage, Pauline has contributed her voice to major film scores and performed alongside some of the biggest names in music, including Paul McCartney, Beck, Cher, Willie Nelson, Neil Diamond, Muse, and Leonard Cohen.
Her current album, At the Edge of Everything, features Stanley Clarke and showcases her ability to move naturally between jazz, neo-classical instrumentals, and expressive vocal compositions. Her music has accumulated more than 30 million streams worldwide.
Through her music and performances, Pauline brings together technical excellence, emotional honesty, and a deep sense of vulnerability. With “The Wonder of Stars,” she offers listeners a reminder to pause, look beyond their immediate surroundings, and find inspiration in the world above them.
