[OPINION] Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris–Why I’m Here for Her New Found Independence & Womanhood

Since XScape’s reality show ‘Still Kickin’ It’ aired, we were able to see the former group members reconcile their almost 20-year beef.
But, we were also able to see Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris come from behind T.I.’s shadows and from the background of being a mother. Being able to see her as a woman, first, was so refreshing.
For so many years, Tiny has only operated in a role of a mother and wife. With VH1’s The Family Hustle, she was married, taking care of kids, and supporting T.I.’s rap career. Outside of a few scenes with Shekinah, it appeared she didn’t have much of a social life or life outside of her family.
But, with this reality show we were able to see that Tiny is just like most women, has ambitions and is not one-dimensional, but put many things on the backburner for the greater good of the family.
Since the announcement of her divorce or at least pause on their marriage, it seems like the songstress realized that she is not just a mother or wife. She’s also a woman who desires to do things that have nothing to do with her family and everything to do with her, which is simply OK.
I don’t know the future of XScape, but I really hope she continues to thrive in her independence and continue to fall in love with herself all over again.
Bravo really should give her a reality show that focuses on her new independence. I feel we would all watch it.
Did I mention she has a nice voice? I honestly forgot how she sounded, until this show.
Through this four-episode series we were able to see that once you have your own goals and you pursue them, the worries of life get a little easier and you find yourself again.
