Vocalists Bringing Bottled Water on Stage is Not Wrong but…- Kuxomusic addresses issue

In an instagram post made by blogger Skbeatz Records, a fan questioned “why backing vocalists carried bottled water on stage” during Pastor Alfred Owusu Sekyere’s “Refired” Concert and Adom Kiki’s “The Worshipper’s Heart” Concert on November 12th and 26th, 2023 respectively, in Kumasi.

In an exclusive interview, SkBeatz Records noticing the fan’s reaction for the second time, approached music director Kuxomusic to address the concern.

Kuxomusic explained that backing vocalists undergo hours of singing and standing on stage, risking dehydration, especially for events like Adom Kiki’s, where they supported singers like Efe Grace, Sandra Affreh, Adom Kiki, and Joe Mettle which elapse about two Hours.

He emphasized that the harmonic swaps and song structures demand vocalists to stay hydrated to avoid vocal strain.

Considering the low relative humidity on stage caused by LED lights and ambiance, Kuxomusic stressed the need for water on stage to prevent strain on vocal folds.

However, he acknowledged the issue of improper water bottle placement exposing singers to cameras during live recordings, despite their necessity for hydration.
